In short and non techie terms, 4chan got a bunch of there members to overload the webservers for the RIAA, MPAA and a few other groups. Planned but not executed, was also to attack an indian firm who attacked the piratebay's website a few months back. Someone ended up hacking their website so they didnt attack it.
Personally I see this happening a lot more, on all sides. You get pissed at someone taking their webserver down is a good protest as long as you dont get caught, and get your message out that you aren't happy. If you know anything on server distribution, this is a seriously feared incident with IT people.

They do this shit all the time, and it's pretty easy to do.
You just need a collective.
Like TWW.
and a target.
Like Wolf Wall.
Yea.
Although I hardly see the point of DDoSing a site that's not even really active at all. 9/20/2010 4:57:57 PM |

I'm only surprised that a major DDoS against MPAA and RIAA hasn't happened before (or maybe it did and I missed the news) or more frequently. 9/20/2010 4:59:35 PM |

come on it's not like they do most of their business out of MPAA DOT ORG and RIAA DOT COM
those are more informational sites than anything else
but if 4chan DDoS'd the major movie studios and record labels that would be Epic® 9/20/2010 8:24:14 PM |
