He was found not guilty of DUI then killed by a drunk driver. Where is the karma?

So when people are found not guilty of a crime that you think they probably did, it's "karma" when they get killed?

Frosh....I know how much you want to prove some retarded point of yours especially at my expense.....but go ahead and read not only those comments, but the rest of the comments he's made. 1/3 of them involve being drunk/drinking. He states that if 'he could get off' his friend could get off much easier. He at one point on his page talks about how he was going to drive somewhere but he didn't need any more BAC problems.

I didn't pull a car in front of him and run him over. And yes, he was found not guilty. So was OJ.

He was found not guilty by a judge who presumably used his judgment on some evidence, neither of which I'm seeing in this thread.

I mean...okay? "Karma" 'cause a dude you are pretty sure drove drunk got killed by a drunk driver, all right. I mean...did he himself kill someone drunk driving? Because I could at least begin to see that, but it doesn't sound to me like the guy ever hurt anybody.

I mean what is this? Was he an ex-boyfriend who dumped you when you gained weight or something? What's your angle?

well he did say the judge was pissed, which makes me think it's maybe some sort of technicality that they exploited.. i don't really understand how you "get out of a DUI" though, i mean you were driving.. and you were pulled over drunk... right? whatever.

goodnight, sweet prince

He was found not guilty by a jury you idiot. The judge pretty much acts like a referee during a trial.

Judges will rarely EVER overturn a conviction unless it was an absolutely ridiculous decision by the jury.

And I've seen enough jury trials to know that they let guilty people free fairly often. The majority of juries are fucking retarded.

Oh! "Idiot." Nice. Because I short-circuited the jury out of my statement, I'm an idiot, even though you yourself acknowledge that the final decision is the judge's. Nice.

What makes you think this? I had to testify in a DUI trial here in NC and it was decided by the judge in the same court where they try people for traffic violations. No jury present.

Um...first of all, I never insinuated that this guy DESERVED to die. ANYONE being killed by a drunk driver is a victim and they shouldn't have been. You're right FK, since I wasn't there and don't know the details of the case, I'm basing my opinion off of what I know to be true via his own page:
1) He was arrested for a DUI.
2) His friends believed he was guilty.
3) He spends a great deal of his time drinking and/or being drunk. He even notes that his profile picture is from when he was shit faced.
4) He had to pay a very good lawyer a shit ton of money to get him off.

Am I suggesting that I know for certainty that this guy was drunk as shit when he was arrested and charged with a DUI? Of course not. But you're deluded if you think that only guilty people get found guilty and only not guilty people get found not guilty. I have no fucking clue who this guy is Frosh so no, he's not an ex-boyfriend who dumped me when I gained weight or something but I will note your need to throw in an attempt (and it's an attempt) at a personal attack...it's one way people who can't make a good argument use to try and sound like they know what the fuck they're talking about.

I realize this is all moot because it doesn't matter what I say you're going to disagree but your belief that you think you are gracing all of us with your words of wisdom when you post on here is just that, a belief. Get the fuck out of a thread I make because CLEARLY you are waaaayyyyy too intellectual and intelligent to be in them.

And BHS...I don't know what your problem is but my friend dying in a helicopter crash is nothing even remotely close to karma but I do appreciate your attempt to try use something like that to somehow upset me. While it didn't upset me because it's such a little kid thing to do, it certainly shows me what a prick you are...so thanks for enlightening me.

According to Buddhism, one's actions in life are said to show up in the person's next life. If you live a good, kind life, you will be born into an even better life. If you lead a cruel and mean life without compassion, your following life will not be a good one.

The myth that karma can happen a few days or weeks or months later in the same lifetime, is quite ignorant to Buddhism.

um no. He wasn't a reporter. He was a pilot. But interesting to note that you think news reporters and people who use a friend's death in an accident that had nothing to do with alcohol, juries, judges, facebook, and gloating, as a means to upset someone to somehow prove a point about something completely separate that has nothing to do with them, is pretty pathetic.

The belief that karma is unique to Buddhism is quite ignorant to karma. I suspect karma existed in Hinduism for hundreds of years (if not 1,000+) prior to the first Buddha. Furthermore, while I don't claim to be an expert on Buddhism, I'm pretty sure at least some of the meditation and reciting of mantras within Buddhism is supposed to influence one's karmic effects within this lifetime.

Many modern interpretations and most western interpretations of karma seem to imply that the effects of karma can happen at any time. When referenced by a young woman from the USA I would kind of assume this is the interpretation at hand. It has even been adopted by many Christians who believe it relates to the bible's statement that "You reap what you sow."

Nice attempt at saying you just omitted something. But you say you omit, then you still argue against your original point...just trying to cover all your bases?? Just admit you don't know what you're talking about.

But just for the sake of an argument...yeah...sure...it's the judge's final decision. 99% of the time a judge overturns a verdict is in civil cases when a jury awards an astronomical amount in punitive damages. Even then, he's just turning down the amount of damages and not the actual determination of guilt. I've have heard several judges speak on the topic of the guilty getting off because the supposed incompetence of juries. But they usually can't do anything about it unless something went procedurally wrong during the trial (jury not able to ignore a statement that has been objected and sustained, improper admittance of evidence, jury tampering, etc.).

So basically...when it comes down to a Judge overturning a verdict in a criminal trial...it just doesn't happen.

If you read the facebook comments, he said the Judge was pissed. If the judge was the one making the final decision, you think he would say he was innocent and then be pissed?? Read.

Yes. Case in point...I knew a guy who was involved in a high speed chase with the police. He got away, but they just came to his house later that day and arrested him. He paid a lawyer a ton of money and the lawyer got him a not guilty verdict based on the fact that the police had no proof that he was actually the driver of the car despite the fact that he was the registered owner. Everyone in the courtroom knew he was driving the car, but the judge upheld the laws of this country and found him not-guilty. The judge was quite pissed in that case and gave him a stern lecture. When he rolled his eyes and replied "whatever" the judge charged him with contempt of court.

Are we sure this is the same guy? I mean it looks like it is, but I find it unusual that noone has posted on his wall how they miss him or he was taken away to early or what not. I've got a few friends on FB who have died and their wall blew up within hrs from people posting on it. Don't see a single post about him dying
