China is the damn wild west. A friend of mine traveled there a few years ago while he was studying Mandarin. He was reading a local newspaper and they had a story where a hospital had put an xray machine on the street as trash. Someone decided they wanted it and brought it to their flat and opened it up, exposing the radioactive shit in it and started making residents in the surrounding floors sick with radiation poison.

cobra venom is used in Chinese medicine for pain relief and it is quite valuable

that explains the desire to farm cobras
