Fuckin hate this place. Every time I go there I get terrible service, cold/sloppy food and most recently, the waitress tipped herself. That's right. I wrote $1 on the tip line and I was charged $5 above the cost. Naturally I threw out my receipt before I discovered the issue. There was no automatic gratuity charge that would have justified that.

Same thing happened to me at a Mexican restaurant in Durham. Called the place, they looked it up, and agreed that I had been overcharged. Who knows if it was an accident or not. They told me to come back in with the card and they would refund me. I told them I wasn't driving to Durham over $3 and I would just file a dispute with my credit card company if he couldn't fix it over the phone. Then he "remembered" that he could fix it over the phone.

That's why you always keep your receipts.

Receipts are entered in electronically. If you throw away your receipt then the bartender/server/manager can enter in whatever the fuck they want and then throw away their copy as well. So no paper trail and then it's their word against yours. If it is a drinking establishment, then they could probably just say you were drunk and they would have the upper hand.

Either way...at the very least, take your receipt with you. It would be pretty ballsy for a bartender/server/manager to knowingly enter a wrong amount if they think there's a possibility you still have your copy.
