We have SAP at work and it blows hard...
Haven't tried the small business version though, but I hate the big business version.

Accountants love it thought -- makes everyone else's life a living hell.

I'd make sure to check out Oracle's offerings -- I've heard good things from other on their solutions.

I use S.A.P at work frequently ( chemical plant, mechanical reliability) ( equipment, planning and scheduling, parts inventory, breakdown stats etc...)and quite honestly it is very powerful. However with that being said how you actually use it blows. There are different transaction codes and it seems sometimes you have to scratch your ass in order to sneeze.

Love it and also hate it

there always seems to be that polarity in these types of systems.

the accounting guys love it, the rest of the company hate it
the sales people love it, accounting hates it, inventory people hate it
inventory people love it, accounting is ok with it, sales hates it with a passion

Yes, it definitely does some things better than others, like keeping records of spare parts or functional locations and what type of equipment is where. However the way we use the accounting features is horrible. Unfortunately, I get to deal with the good and the bad. im not sure what version we are using but I can probably answer some general questions.

As to training if there is formalized training available go for it I am still learning it

yeah they are trying to make me spear head this "project". I'm sticking to my guns to going to make the company pay for any training/classes I can take.
