I searched for jackpot.

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/8385163/

Quote :
"Raleigh, N.C. — Police on Friday asked for anyone who might have seen a man being beaten early Thursday outside a Raleigh bar to come forward.

Evan Benjamin Lawrence, 23, left the Jackpot Bar, at 1303 Hillsborough St., early Thursday and was involved in an altercation a short time later, police said. He received injuries that are potentially life-threatening and is being treated at Rex Hospital, police said.

A witness reported seeing two women and a man who appeared to be providing aid to Lawrence, and police said the three unidentified people might have witnessed the events that led to his injuries.

Investigators are trying to identify these witnesses and need to speak with them about the case, police said.

Anyone with information that might help in the investigation is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP or the Raleigh Police Department’s Detective Division at 919-996-3555."

there are like 20 jackpot threads, obviously you didn't search that hard

i was there but didn't see it. apparently it was random people walking by the front area. the guy flicked a cigarette which happened to almost hit two guys passing by so they jumped him. i heard some type of commotion as it was going on but didn't go outside to see what happened.

A know a TWW-er who hit a girl there. He might be the only person banned from Jackpot. He's the biggest fuckup ever, and pretty much a waste of oxygen.

who was it that did it, or who was it that got jumped? the victim is some random kid, but there's a new update on the wral story where his dad says he's getting better every day, so that's good.

as for the assailants, probably some assholes on their way to city limits

cop came and bugged my friend at home at like 4 AM because one of his friends was telling the cops where people who frequent JP live...which goes to show you, NEVER ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE POLICE

damn, just saw a quick little blurb about this on the news, they said the police dont have any suspects and are asking anyone who knows anything to step forward. Sounds like the people might get away unless someone helps the police out.

I know if I was beaten bad enough to be in life-threatening condition I wouldnt want the people who did it to get away.

They said his condition was improving, but it took a turn for the worse and he's now in critical condition with severe head trauma. really sucks

in other shitty news related to Jackpot, someone broke in on Friday, smashed everything inside, and stole the safe which had all the money they made on the last night. which was a lot considering it was slammed.

hope this dude pulls through

oh p.s. apparently serious to critical is a downgrade

is downgrade good or bad?

i'm guessing bad. because critical is worse than serious. it just seems weird to call it a downgrade. that makes it seem less serious when it is getting more serious.

well yea but what i meant is it is weird they said "downgrade" when really its getting worse! but it was wral so who knows if they use the right terminology

i mean it makes sense because its worse so it is declining so going down i guess. but THEN its like if its a hierarchical scale with "critical" at the top, downgrade seems like it'd be getting better. know what i'm sayin?

if your condition is being downgraded, that means your condition is getting worse...

it is not the severity of the injury/illness which is being downgraded

yes i KNOW!! haha its just weird to me, is what i'm saying...not that i don't get it. kinda like when someone asks you to turn the air up. they usually mean make it colder which is really turning it down. and when you turn the air down you push it up so it turns off.

i don't know it is just something that seemed weird to me, downgrading to more severe. but i guess my head just does the scale the wrong way. "critical" is at the top. where i guess if you are a normal human "healthy" is at the top and you go down from there.

anyway, i just overthink things

it is just a failure to understand what the modifier term is being used to modify

in this condition, the confusion comes when someone is thinking a downgrade should be for the severity of the condition, when in actuality it is being used to describe the actual condition of the patient. With the air conditioning example, turning the "air up" for some people might mean turning up the power on the aircondtioning unit (or the force of the fan), thus making it cooler. For others, it might mean turning the "temperature of the air" up, thus making it warmer.

It is all context

yeah I thought that too when I read that post.

I mean if they beat on his door because they heard there were marijuana smokers in the area it would have been one thing but this guy is clinging to his life, and it could possibly turn in to a murder investigation.

They have to follow all leads. You would probably agree the same way if you were friend/family member of the guy that got beat.

Also how the fuck have this dudes friends not come forward at all? Was he at the bar by himself or something?

my point was that the guy who they harassed wasn't even at the bar when it happened, they just went there as a result of someone else blabbing unrelated addresses

as for the kid, i've never seen him before. there's one guy i know in one of his facebook pictures, but said guy is an absolute waste of oxygen so i avoid him whenever possible

RALEIGH -- A 23-year-old skateboarder who was the victim of a vicious attack late last week has taken a turn for the worse, authorities reported this afternoon.

Evan Lawrence has been at Rex Healthcare since Thursday evening, hours after he was attacked by an unknown assailant at Raleigh's Jackpot Bar at 1303 Hillsborough Street.

Hospital officials listed Lawrence in critical condition immediately after his Thursday evening surgery, which removed a blood clot from his brain as a result of the attack, said hospital spokeswoman Melody Hunter-Pillion this afternoon.

Prior to the surgery, doctors were not optimistic about his chances.

"The doctor showed me the [CT] scan and said, 'This is not for sure a survivable injury,'" said Ben Lawrence, Evan Lawrence's father, who described his son as a skateboarder. "Somebody really, really hurt him."

The surgery was deemed successful. By Saturday, Evan Lawrence's condition was upgraded to serious.

But by Sunday, his condition worsened and the young man's condition was downgraded to critical, Hunter-Pillion said.

Hunter-Pillion would not say if Evan Lawrence is in the intensive care unit because of the nature of the violent crime.

"We are hoping that he turns a corner," she said this afternoon. "That's our hope and certainly the family's hope."

Evan Lawrence was with his friends at the bar Thursday morning when he went outside to smoke a cigarette. He told his friends that he flicked a cigarette, which hit a man who was offended and attacked him.

A witness reported seeing two unknown females and one unknown male who appeared to be providing aid to the victim. It is believed these three individuals may have witnessed the events that led to the victim’s injuries. Detectives are attempting to identify these witnesses and need to speak with them about the case.

Despite his injuries, Evan Lawrence walked to his home just down the street. Although he didn't think he was seriously hurt, his friends worked to keep him awake and watched him closely for problems.

As his speech grew slurred and slow, his friends became alarmed and begged him to go to the hospital by Thursday afternoon.

When he resisted, his friends called his dad.

Evan Lawrence walked into the hospital Thursday night and was wheeled into surgery by 10:30 p.m.

so none of the THREE people who "assisted him" (aka, "hey man, you cool? ok later brah") have come forward with any info at all, huh?

awesome. I find it hard to believe that at a place like jackpot, where, arguably, there were several more people smoking out front, that there is no one who can provide any information at all.

there apparently were not a lot of ppl at jpot that night. its been kinda dead forever so it isn't super shocking that only 1 or 2 people might have been outside. i dunno. but i know all the bartenders, etc have been super cooperative.

http://wake.mync.com/site/wake/news%7CSports%7CLifestyles/story/55862/raleigh-man-arrested-in-connection-with-jackpot-beating

Raleigh Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a beating that left one person in critical condition.
25-year-old Charles Zachary Poll of Raleigh is charged with assault inflicting serious injury in connection with the Sept. 30 incident outside Jackpot Nightclub on Hillsborough Steet.
Poll was taken into custody without incident and has been transported to the Wake County Jail, where he being held on a $7,500 bond.
Witnesses say 23-year-old Evan Benjamin Lawrence was smoking a cigarette outside of the bar when he flicked the cigarette, which reportedly "hit somebody on the leg."
Lawrence's father, Ben, says that is when his son apologized but the suspect "went crazy wrestling with him."
During the fight Lawrence received what doctors would later classify as massive, life-threatening head trauma. But at the time, he walked away from the bar to his apartment about a block away.
"His friends checked on him and stayed with him all night and kept him awake," Ben Lawrence explained. "He wouldn't go to the hospital."
Ben said Evan's friends finally drove him to Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
"They got him there some 18 hours after the incident," Ben said.
Evan is still listed in critical condition at Rex Hospital.

Whole bunch of shady with this whole deal...

Massive, life threatening head trauma and his friends didn't bring him to the hospital for 18 hours?

it said they tried to make him go but he didn't want to. i mean what are you gonna do? i think they ended up having to call his dad or something to get him to go. i mean...i'm sure they feel guilty now but it really isn't their fault. i don't think they are to blame at all. but yea, i'd probably be more forceful with my friend or call their parents right then. but its easy for me to say that sitting here now when i'm not in the situation. but i think the condition got worse and worse...like he started throwing up in the night and stuff. right then he was able to walk home, so who knows
