Hes is about 9.5 years old, neutered, calm, housetrained, good with cats and dogs. This isn't the dog in question but I figured a photo couldn't hurt. A friend of mine has been watching the dog for about 8 months now with no problems but the situation was supposed to be temporary while the owner worked overseas. Turns out owner is going to be gone a lot longer then anticipated and my friend can't keep the pup indefinitely. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll get you in touch with my friend who has the dog.

He likely doesn't have much time left anyway, may as well just keep him till he kicks the bucket. 10/7/2010 2:25:08 PM |

here's some info i got in an email from an animal rescue group here in rocky mount
Quote : | "One of my co-workers, Aaron, has been taking care of a friend’s dog since February of this year. His friend moved to South Korea temporarily for work and asked Aaron to keep the dog for 1 year. Recently his friend decided that he is not returning to the United States until sometime in 2012, if at all.
The dog’s name is Kip. Kip has been staying with Aaron and his family in their home, but they are no longer able to keep him since it was supposed to be temporary. Aaron is now looking for a good home for Kip." |

that's a little harsh on the flyer....abandoned? i mean...the owner did plan on coming back originally....leave it up to a rescue group to make them sound like horrible people.

at first I was under the impression that the person was in the military, but they would have mentioned that I think. how do you keep a dog for 8 years then just give it up? they can fly on planes, you know... 10/11/2010 10:01:37 AM |

It's actually expensive and time-consuming to move an animal to a foreign country. There can be quarantine processes involved. And depending on where the person lives, the environment might not be very animal-friendly, particularly for a dog this size.
Also, not all countries are pet-friendly. My friends moved to Costa Rica with their two dogs. One dog was stolen killed by a boa constrictor. The other dog was stolen, presumably by a local. Apparently, some people will steal dogs and eat them.
