I was at a party one time where the police showed up and told everyone they had to leave. As some people started shuffling towards their cars the homeowner came out yelling at them that it was her house, she would have as many people in it as she wanted, everyone was drunk, they were encouraging drunk driving, and nobody was to leave. Then the cops just left. I couldn't believe it.

I'm not too surprised.
Deep down, most cops are cowards and don't care about people's well-being.
They're just dumb power-tripping thugs.

I strongly admire the homeowner. She is a model citizen.

I'd still be tempted to run, just to have the cops catch me and realize I've not committed any crimes, lol.
(Can you be charged with resisting arrest if there is no arrest?)

^^ yes

[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 12:18 PM. Reason : there is an arrest you are evading, on the basis of a suspected crime]

"MADISON, Wis. -- The city of Madison is fining three University of Wisconsin-Madison students more than $86,000 for a house party.

Twenty-one-year-old Travis Ludy, 20-year-old Mitchell Klatt and 20-year-old Kevin Tracy face 130 citations for things like dispensing alcohol without a permit, procuring alcohol for an underage person and adult encouraging underage alcohol consumption. They also may face university discipline.

Madison police say the men could have faced a smaller fine if they hadn't locked doors and turned off the music and lights when officers arrived Sept. 11.

Ludy says they hope to get the fines reduced, because none of them can afford it. He blamed the situation on freshmen from nearby dorms.

"So many kids kept coming. Ten minutes before the cops came we were already breaking it up because it was getting out of control," Ludy said. "There wasn't a whole lot of beer left anyway." AP

I wouldn't be surprised if RPD/ALE wrote anyone over 21 a contributing ticket if there were minors present.

minors are under 18, not 21.

[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 1:43 PM. Reason : were you talking about underage drinking or contributing to the delinquency of a minor?]

I've heard minor used in reference to <21 in regards to alcohol. And I was talking about contributing (or whatever term they use now) alcohol to those <21.

contributing to the delinquency of a minor is also not a stretch.

I hate cops some times Last week I was at a party in Wrightsville Beach. There were 14 people in a townhome. We were all 23-25 years old, drinking and grilling out on the porch. The neighbors on both sides were at the party too. All of a sudden two suburbans come flying up with no headlights on and some chick cop jumps out and starts screaming to get inside. Homeowner ended up getting a noise complaint even though he's only lived there for a month and has no police record AT ALL. The woman cop said that Wrightsville Beach doesn't have to give a noise warning first and they don't even need a complaint from neighbors. They can't just cruise around busting up partys and writing tickets for no reason.

Your fault for not knowing that they don't fuck around at Wrightsville Beach.

Place is like the Compton of the East.
