pack up all of backpacking & camping gear (water filter, freeze dried food, tents, etc), find as many containers to fill up on gas with, grab lots of tools (shovel, hammer, screwdriver, pulaski, hand saws, etc), get all the guns & pets, and head out to my parents' house in the country. if looting was already going on, i'd probably try to steal some petfood & canned goods.

I'd probably try to get to my spot at Lake Gaston. 90 miles from Raleigh or Richmond, so there shouldn't be too much competition out there. Tons of deer, fish and mussels to eat. No shortage of hydrilla to eat as a veggie. Tons of unattended boats I can siphon gas out of. Islands and woods I can set up camp on if it came down to it. I could probably get there with my ATV and a 5 gallon gas can.

Go to my aunt and uncles farm a few minutes outside SN. They've got a big ass farm with chickens and hogs, so we'd eat good for a while. Plus we've got guns, a big ass generator, etc. It would suck for a lot of people, but I'd just farm and fish.

As for people being fucked, I think a small town like where I live would be even more fucked than a place like Raleigh. So many people in my town are on some form of government assistance (whether old or on welfare), and aren't prepared to even take care of themselves, that they would have no fucking clue what to do. In a situation like that, I think it would go to looting VERY fast, so I'd be picking up the grandparents and openly carry whenever I was in town.

Shit like this is why when I move to the Triangle, I plan to find a place with a little land outside of town, so I can have my own garden and have some chickens and shit like that without having neighbors/HOAs crying and bitching.

I used to think about this a fair bit when I lived in Brooklyn

if the power went off and wasn't coming back on I would HAVE to get out of the city
I didn't have a car but those wouldn't be very helpful anyway because the roads would be congested

I did have a bike and a large backpack, though
and I keep stores of batteries and several flashlights

i've taken 2 wilderness survival classes. i can identify some regional edibles

been primitive camping several times, even in the winter, with no tent - make your own survival shelter type deals

was a trained EMT for five years

hunter / fisherman although i've never trapped ... i think i could learn.

if it was the end of the world type scenario i would try to get my closet friends together and my family and tack as much stuff as we could to the mountains to stay a friends for as long as we could and then just make do.

oh! my brother can catch or shoot anything that moves, so he could probably feed us pretty well. i hate fish but i guess i could learn to like it if it's the only thing available. there's a large pond & creek behind my parents' house. lots of deer & ducks too.

Well I would get drunk and loot first off.

I would do my best to find a water filter...if I couldn't I would make one, plenty of sand around here and just need to burn some wood for charcol to make a filter for all the salt water.

Then I'd fish.

Even though the winters are pretty cold here as long as I had a shelter and plenty of warm clothes I think I could survive.

There isn't really a lack of water or food on an island. Good food too. Yummy fish.
