Quote : | "Reporting from Washington — The Justice Department on Wednesday asked a federal appeals court in San Francisco to quickly set aside a judge's order that bars enforcement of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, saying the judge's "extraordinary decision" went too far, too fast.
The 25-page motion says the appeals court should lift the judge's order Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips in Southern California, acting on a suit brought by the Log Cabin Republicans, declared the "don't ask" policy unconstitutional last month. On Oct. 12, she then ordered the Pentagon to stopping enforcing the policy, which it did. " |

now we get to figure out who all the gays are
ya see, all the gays will jump the gun and start being proud of their gayness and come out of the closet
then the law will be enacted again, and there will be opportunistic discharges before the law is again repealed
then due to the timing of these discharges, young gay men and women will return home and then people will instantly know that most likely they got discharged cuz they decided to revel in their gayness and got caught in the net so to speak. 10/20/2010 5:08:03 PM |

UPDATE
Quote : | "A federal appeals court has frozen a judge's order halting the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, even as the Pentagon has announced it will accept openly gay recruits.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday temporarily granted the U.S. government's request for a freeze on the judge's order.
The appellate court instructed lawyers for the gay rights group that brought the lawsuit successfully challenging the policy to file arguments in response by Monday.
The judges would then decide whether to extend the temporary stay while it considers the government's appeal of U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips' ruling that the policy was unconstitutional. " |

you have to wonder though
will gays be housed in separate barracks? based on principle they kinda have to be 10/21/2010 1:22:18 PM |

They'll also fight in separate battles. The UN will pass a resolution that requires all wars be fought on two fronts: gay and straight. All gays will be given little pink triangles to wear on their uniforms. Pink guns too. Grenades will spray confetti and glitter in addition to shrapnel. 10/21/2010 1:33:42 PM |

how exactly does an "adult" act? 10/21/2010 1:53:18 PM |
McDanger All American 18835 Posts user info edit post |
Not surprised you'd ask.
Adults are capable of acting professionally regardless of the harmless, victimless proclivities of their coworkers.
In other words, they don't judge and fuck with each other on matters of taste. 10/21/2010 2:28:04 PM |

Do gays have separate accommodations at boarding schools? College dorms? Gym locker rooms? Public restrooms? Prisons? We civilians seem to keep it under control (except for prisons but that's obviously different). Why can't the military? 10/21/2010 3:40:00 PM |

In non-US controlled Allied bases in the AOR, many of their barracks and latrines are co-ed. It's a non-issue.
Many US forces have serves with openly gay forces from other countries...again it's a non-issue most of the time.
While, I don't deny that there are many bigots in the military who are homophobic, the VAST majority of anger and debate over this issue has come from gays who don't want to serve, yet demand the right to and straight people, who haven't served a day in the their life, yet think they know what is best for the military. 10/22/2010 1:27:16 PM |
