Ugh, for the past week I've been trying to find out about the history of Cup A Joe.

It's literally impossible.

I've talked to seven different employees. No one knows a word of the business history. They're really just not told anything apparently. I keep trying to find Dave (one of the owners I'm told) but haven't seen him yet, and apparently I haven't found a manager yet (I was told today when I could find one in Avent Ferry).

All the former and current employees that are friends have said the business history is sketchy, drugs are questionably involved in a number of ways, and the turn-over rate is so high that hardly anyone can keep track of what happens.

...then I thought, hey, TWW probably has SOMEONE that used to or currently works there. I can ask them, and Chit Chat is so helpful and kind.





...so what does TWW know?

it was a hot chocolate and it was four years ago after i stayed up all night with my roommate

she bought it for me, in fact

never spent a dime in those places

if they had beer, though...the atmosphere is tip-top, less so with the smoking ban

I know it's horrible that I assume all English majors and everyone with even vague connection to the arts must love coffee.

But I usually assume that.

...which is probably hypocritical since I hate most other assumptions made about the humanities.

All I know is their pastries/baked goods used to be like a million times better in the 90s. As far as the drugs thing one of my good friends worked there in college and never mentioned anything about it, but the vast majority of people in the service industry are users so it wouldn't surprise me in least if it was true(especially for the employees that have to open at 4 or 5 in the morning).

I talked to a guy tonight, and when I asked about the history of the store, he asked me if I was a Fed, because "you look like a fed" (I looked like shit, my shirt was dirty, and I have a full beard--what?). When I said no, he said "So are you an industry spy?"

He was twitching a lot and really spaz. Yea, I realize he could be drinking a lot of coffee, but it was like he was on goddamn coke.
