If possible, just find a place to stay that's outside the city but still close enough to have a nearby metro station.

I have room for 1 on my couch in the living room. I have a 1BR on Wisconsin Ave NW by the National Cathedral. I'm not going to let anyone sleep on my couch though, I'm going to be selfish and keep my couch open all night in case I was to watch TV and play video games.

I'll consider letting someone sleep on the floor in a corner.

BTW- just some input? I was there for Obama's innauguration back in 2009-

1- park near a mall. Terpball- What mall is it that is right at the metro?? That was the TICKET- plenty of free parking and a quick metro ride.

2- Carry a backpack with chex mix. No shit. And some vodka and some lemonade. This shit will saaave you.

3- Try to sneak in as many pictures as you can. Epic.

4- Wear a t shirt that says "interview me". This is a media- heavy event. I think Oprah will be there.

I think there was someone who made an ad hominem attack on me after I asked people to make sure they don't trash the National Mall. To whoever it was: Take a tip from this guy (http://www.youtube.com/user/LitterFreeINAUG). He was excited about the President's election and subsequent inauguration, but he was concerned that all of the people who went would leave the Mall a disaster. He lives in Washington, D.C., and is an Obama supporter, and didn't want to see his city ruined by the trash that people (who didn't live in D.C.) made.

And he has before and after videos, so what I'm saying isn't BS, even if your hatred for conservatives (or your general liberal tendencies) is impairing your judgement and requiring you to attack me.

And I care because the Mall is my Mall, too, and it makes the U.S. look bad when we trash our capital city (similar to those French who are protesting in Paris because the government decided to make them work for two more years before they retire).
