That's literally the first thing one of my housemates says to me this morning, complete with a face.

Why do I put up with this shit?

my grandmother used to do this to all of her girl grandchildren. (when my papa was in the hospital once i went to go see him and she commented the whole time about my belly)
she's always been super thin and that gene didn't get passed to us obviously.

finally someone (i think it was uncle) told her to cut it out and that it was hurting us.

ever since then shes tried to fatten us up.

yeh, i really don't understand why people feel the need to say this. i'm someone whose weight goes up and down pretty regularly. i'm pretty sure i know when i've gained weight... i def don't need people to point it out.

and how the fuck is someone supposed to respond to that comment? i've started just saying "yeh, it happens"

Tell him or her it's the fault of the patriarchal society we live in. That'll learn him or her.

LOL ... every time I see them, my relatives tell me I'm LOSING weight. If that were true I'd weigh 105 pounds by now.

The fact that he sees me every day is what makes it particularly annoying.

while he was entirely inappropriate for saying that

the last time I saw you, you could've easily gained 20 pounds and still been a normal weight

so I wouldn't worry about it

Impressive. I weighed about 150 last time you saw me. 170 would be the limit of normal weight according to the BMI. Do you have that thing memorized or something?

I think my Mema and your grandmother could be pals

I had actually lost weight when she said that to me. She does it to all of us, but no amount of "mema, that kinda hurts my feelings," will stop it.

Depends on your definition. I'm a bepenised human with dude conditioning, sure. Beyond that it gets murky.

I don't see what's wrong with telling someone about their personal shortcomings. If you don't make people feel bad about their failings then they may learn to be comfortable with them and that makes humanity worse off.
