Just to confirm..this is the Live version?
Have you had any trouble with this being able to read off a network?

^^Yup this is the Live version which will stream OR network share your remote media. I had a little bit of trouble getting it to find my media for network sharing, but once I figured out what permissions I needed to set on my shared media it was a piece of cake. I also had TVersity set up to stream my media for my XBox and the WDTV Live had no problems picking that up. Over a wired connection both streaming and sharing work flawlessly when playing media. Can play full 1080p with no slowdowns and there is no wait time before your media starts when you hit play. Can also fast forward at 16x or skip ahead 10mins at a time without hesitation on media shares.

Admittedly the software is less flashy and a little less refined than some other media players but its got the hardware power which I think is more important. If you're just looking for something that will play anything flawlessly, this is your box.

First to $75 gets it!

My $50 still stands. I'm working in Smithfield today, so I can roll through Raleighwood later this afternoon when I'm finished!

I've been debating just holding on to it. I've replaced it downstairs with a better HTPC setup, but I think it's probably worth keeping around for the guest room or whatnot. After everything I went through to get all my media organized it'd be a shame to only have access to it from 2 rooms in the house.

That being said I doubt I could turn down $75, but anything less than that it's just not worth it.

then you should probably resign yourself to holding onto it

it's not worth $75...you might get it from CL (i'd expect no more than $60 from them), but not on tww

"worth" is subjective

if someone gives you $5k for it, then it's "worth" $5k...if you find a CL sucker to give you $75, then yeah, it's worth it...until then, it's only worth $50 because that's the only valid offer you have (this is a fact, not an opinion)

that said, i wish you no ill will...i, for one, frequently sell things on CL for more than they're "worth" in my own estimation, so i wish you luck in your endeavor

^There's something called a 'going rate' that applies here. That's when something is determiend to be worth a price because that's what similar items have sold for recently. The average going rate for this item (used) is a little more than $75. (that is a fact, not an opinion)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002KKFP9Y/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

It's very easy to say that something is only worth what someone will pay for it, however when it comes to economics that's a very narrow view. Relative percieved value must factor in the going rate of similar products in a similar market. Does that mean you can't find it somewhere for $50? No, chances are there's someone out there willing to sell it for $50. It also means there's probably some idiot out there willing to pay $100 for it.

All I'm saying is that I didn't price this item based on my own estimation and I don't need someone on TWW to tell me what something is worth especially since percieved value on TWW != actual percieved value.

You're barely offering more than an open box discount on a piece of electronic equipment that has most of its warranty spent. You've been on TWW long enough to know that unless you're fregac or garfus or your stuff is priced to liquidate you're better off on ebay/CL. Take how little you say you care about selling this and halve it. That's how much I care about replacing XBMC, TVersity+360, or GOMPlayer + HDMI laptop. Not trying to offend, I'm just saying that if I have decided to spend that much on a device like this, I'm probably going to spend the extra 25 or even 50 dollars to either get a 12 month warranty or a more feature rich platform with a better frontend.

GL on your sale though. Craig may bite.

I'm gonna call bullshit on this. You went to only Amazon and assumed that 75$ was the going rate. No way in fucking hell did you take a decent SRS and actually find the average going rate.

Newegg had these last week for $80 with free shipping.
Black Friday is 2 weeks away.
Add to it that there are a couple of more advanced versions of the WDTV out now...

If you will not take $50 for this used...you probably should be prepared to keep it.

What's the difference between what you have for sale, and this?

Newegg has this for sale for $39.99-$5 with coupon code EMCZZZW46 and free shipping.

To be fair...
That link is a 720p setup.
I also think that it does not have networking built in.

The one that Hobbit has is 1080p. It can decode DTS. And..you can access files on your network instead of having to plug in a drive via a USB port.

Having said all that, the one Hobbit has can not be had new..with warranty..for under $60.

^yea basically. No network streaming, USB only.

And the mini is not hackable like the original. On the originals you can slap a USB network card on there and turn it into a Live with homebrew firmware.

But it is smaller and prettier.
