inspired by the amedeos thread:
my mom met my dad when she was working at amedeos in the 80's. my dad was a traveling textbook salesmen who was only in town for a few days (lived in michigan) he slipped her a note and she only went out with him b/c she thought his friend slipped it
they went on their first date on a friday night. my mom and him moved in together in raleigh that following tuesday. the rest is history.
any cool stories out there? doesnt have to be parents....maybe a friend or even you?

my parents were introduced to each other in high school, probably sophomore year. they went to different schools, my dad to an all boys school my mom to an all girls school.
they started dating and my mom's parents hated my dad. they made my mom rush through high school and finish in three years and then go to college. my parents stayed together (even when my dad was living in CA a brief time while they were together). then my mom got pregnant with my sister when she was 18 and they got married.
almost 36 years later - they're still together
oh and he proposed in a burger king 11/2/2010 3:18:49 PM |

All told, my mom met my dad at her older sister's birthday party. My mom was 16, Dad was 19, and he was passed out on her kitchen floor. That's all I really know.

They were working at the same company. Apparently my mom was hot shit and all the guys at the office wanted to get in her pants. One of her co-workers asked her if there was anyone who worked there that she would be interested in. At first she said no, but then thought of my dad. The way she tells the story, he arrived at her office a split second later half out of breath to ask her out.

arranged marriage.
My parents met one day, were engaged the next, and married the day after that. My dad fled the country the day after the wedding. My mom tracked him down 6 months later and found him living in a condemned apartment building in Greensboro.

My mom was college roommates with my dad's sister. They would call my dad whenever something needed to be fixed. Then my dad started showing up when they didn't call him and eventually he asked my mom out.
On their first date, he took her to a funny car race. They got married 6 months later. Been together over 35 years 11/2/2010 3:32:14 PM |

^^^ haha, he was a poor college student. while he made enough from tutoring to afford more 'typical' college housing, he was actually trying to save every penny he could so that my mom could eat when she came over.
he didn't really flee my mom so much as flee India, but it makes the story hilarious.
one day i'm going to write a book illustrating the hilarity of my folks coming to america and my childhood. It'll read like a less-gay david sedaris story.

My parents met at a party hosted by a lunatic Vietnam vet (who has been described as "the only person on Earth who had Vietnam syndrome before he went to Vietnam") who probably spent the evening doing copious drugs and exchanging conspiracy theories. My mom was only there because she was the lunatic's employee and my dad was there because he was related to the lunatic.
The lunatic does not hesitate to bring up the fact that I owe my existence to his party. 11/2/2010 3:36:43 PM |

Both of mine were student teaching at an elementary school in Greensboro. They went on a few dates, and my dad asked her if they were exclusive, to which my mom said no (supposedly to test him).
She said that it really said something that he would voluntarily stick around after hearing something like that, so the rest is history (my mom claims to have been proposed to 3 times before that though). 11/2/2010 3:44:04 PM |

You're one to talk. Your crazy Vietnam party may sound good, but it's common knowledge that you are the fruit of my loins. Your mom answered an ad for "hoes" that I tacked to a few light poles, and the rest, as they say, is history.11/2/2010 3:52:12 PM |

My dad went to Benhaven High School and my mom went to his rival, Boone Trail High School. My mom and my aunt (her younger sister) were on the cheer leading squad. I think he noticed my aunt that way. Was interested in her and then his friend did a dweedle swoop. Then he noticed my mom. Kind of beat up but I am glad he invested more in his interest in my mom so that I could be formed eventually.
She eventually followed him to NC State and got a divorce in 2007. ] 11/2/2010 4:11:23 PM |

I don't remember the exact ages, but my dad was 18-19 and my mom was 20-21. They both worked at a Kings grocery store in NJ.
According to my dad, my mom walked into the store one day and he saw her for the first time. He then turned to the guy he was working with and said, "I'm going to marry her."
They were married less than 1-2 years later, and are still married after more than 33 years. 11/2/2010 4:23:35 PM |

My dad was a manger at Darryl's on Hillsboro and my mom was a waitress. She was carrying out a plate of pasta working her first double (my dad was the closing manager at the time) and spilled it on my dad walking out of the kitchen. He jokingly said she owed him a date to make up for it because he had a girlfriend at the time, but when she called him the next week to take him up on it he suddenly became single 11/2/2010 4:33:54 PM |

My parents met when they worked on the set of a play in college at the University of Illinois. My dad was looking for ass (His logic: Only gay guys work in plays. All the women would flirt with him). So, great success I guess. Until they got divorced.
