Which movie do you feel is better than the other? I go for The Thin Red Line.

One question though, why in the series The Pacific the portrayal of the Guadalcanal battle so much different than the Thin Red Line? If I didn't know they were supposedly based on the same place I would have no idea they were even near each other much less the exact same place.

Also The Pacific was a huge let down after Band of Brothers, but that was a hard marvel to follow. What does HBO do now? Vietnam?

SPR was a war movie.

TRL was a movie that took place in a war.

this is a discussion of which movie you enjoyed more, not what the movies were or were not.

I know one thing, The Thin Red Line is the better Blu-Ray for sure.

they both tell a story, but for entertainment purposes, I'd have to side with SPR, and for the funny SRP spoof's. Personally, they could have edited some portions of the TRL down a bit and still have been effective at telling the story.

Thin Red Line has Jared Leto in it, so SPR is definitely better.

I love me some Terrance Malick...supposedly they are going to release the full cut of The Thin Red Line at some point (which is like 5 hours long) that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Sheen, Gary Oldman, Bill Pullman, Lukas Haas, Viggo Mortensen, and Mickey Rourke.

Thin Red Line seems more gritty and realistic close to (but definitely not the same level as) Full Metal Jacket. SPR seems like a normal modern war movie with all the gore/action/fighting that we can find anywhere. That being said I like SPR but I'll watch both if either one of them are on tv. I've got Band of Brothers on DVD but still haven't seen a single episode of The Pacific for some reason.

all I have to say is Jared Leto is the fucking man!

not to mention the sand was all wrong in SPR since they didn't shoot the movie in France, big budget my ass (yes I saw the extras/commentary)
