So I have an '04 infiniti g35 - my headlight went out maybe 6 months ago so I replaced it. After like a month my headlight went out again, I opened it back up and it had just come loose, apparently at some point whoever replaced the lights for the previous owner broke the clip that holds the light in, it still holds it in but I guess over time it came loose. So I pushed it back in, it worked again for another couple months. Now my light has gone back out again and I tried pushing it back in which didn't work, so I bought a new headlight. This one didn't work at all. Is this something that sounds like just a fuse issue, or is it probably something worse. The g35 is a pain in the ass to get to the lights so I'm not really sure what else to check easily.

Tried figuring out what that acronym stands for, Nissan makes shitty junk? I would agree on some ends, the car has some issues that are just annoying (noisy windows, shitty cd player, etc), but the car was a gift from my parents and my mom was the only owner before me so I'm not going to complain.

But anyone have anything useful?

First step would be to stick a test light/multimeter in the headlight wiring behind the socket. If it comes on*, you need to replace the socket, if not, good luck.

[Edited on November 12, 2010 at 4:31 PM. Reason : check to make sure you dont just have some junk in the socket.]

If it were a fuse both headlights would not be working.

You need to check and see if you're getting voltage at the socket with the lights on. If so, your bulb is faulty.

If you have no voltage at/inside the socket, check the wire going into the socket. If you have voltage there you have a problem with the socket.

If you still don't have voltage then you have a wiring issue somewhere.

A few months ago my cigarette lighter seemed to short out. I plugged in my phone charger and a few sparks flew then it stopped working. Possible this is related? Also whats the easiest way to check the voltage of everything? I don't know all too much about cars
