11/16/2010 3:09:55 PM
it's pretty sweet
11/16/2010 3:14:20 PM
I think my old .edu email address still forwards stuff to my gmail account. Anyone know if this would work?
11/16/2010 3:38:04 PM
this was the best thing ever when the only store I lived close to for 2 years was a walmart...
11/16/2010 3:49:24 PM
just sign up for the alumni forwarding address service and it will give you a @alumni.ncsu.edu addressworked for me
11/16/2010 3:49:31 PM
bc i am lazy......what is amazon prime?
11/16/2010 4:10:00 PM
free 2 day shipping$3.95 (i think) next day shippingon everything amazon directly sells
11/16/2010 5:46:01 PM
I did this a few weeks ago and already bought one book with prime. Pretty sweet deal, you basically get free shipping. You also get some killer discounts on textbooks.
11/16/2010 5:58:24 PM
i've ordered so much shit w/ free prime.
11/16/2010 6:00:50 PM
won't let you use the alumni address
11/16/2010 6:17:40 PM
^ i used my alumni address back in july to get it freeguess they closed THAT loophole!
11/16/2010 6:24:39 PM
so my student prime membership expires today...renew @ $39/year for 3 more years?
7/12/2011 11:31:14 AM
Mine expires today as well. I'm not sure I want to spend $40 on it. I don't order enough to make up for the $40 in shipping costs saved.
7/12/2011 11:32:56 AM
^^ yes... I use the FUCK out of my Prime
7/12/2011 11:33:54 AM
If you do, you get access to the Amazon Instant Video deal. Not that there's really much worth watching on there, but it's a perk.
7/12/2011 11:34:25 AM
I think I'm right at the break even point - I don't do a whole lot ordering; well except for this year because I moved and got a bunch of new stuff...Got free shipping on 8 ordersPaid $22.28 shipping on 4 othersNot sure if I would maintain 12 orders, or anything close to that, over time. But I don't know. At my current average cost for shipping (on orders charging shipping), if I were to make at least 7 free shipping orders, then I'm good...[Edited on July 12, 2011 at 11:37 AM. Amazon Prime is the greatest thing ever
7/12/2011 11:35:47 AM
Shit, my membership expires today too.
7/12/2011 11:36:04 AM
I order shit off Prime that I would never even normally buy since its so cheap with no tax or shippingJust the other day I got a set of paring knives for $4, and I don't even like pears.
7/12/2011 11:37:00 AM
7/12/2011 11:39:18 AM
mine is expiring today, tooRUDEeven though i think i've had it longer*SIGH* now i can't decide if i order enough stuff to renew at their discount price of $39thoughts? i mean usually when i order and have to pay for shipping it is like $4. BUT the free 2 day is nice because it comes fast. BUT most times i've ordered w/o prime it still comes fast because i purchase from the high rated sellers that usually do $3.95 express shipping. hmmm hmmm hmmmmm. so basically am i going to order 10 times w/in the next year. keeping in mind that sometimes when i order shit i cannot find the shit i want in "prime eligible" i don't really care about the other perks but the shipping. i have netflix so who cares about the streaming shit.it doesn't seem worth it really, does it?[Edited on July 12, 2011 at 11:44 AM. They really hide the setting for A Prime well.
7/12/2011 11:45:57 AM
I'm not seeing the 39.00 discount. I was invited/added to another account though so maybe that's why.
7/12/2011 11:46:06 AM
^Mine was in the email alerting me that I had expired.
7/12/2011 11:46:44 AM
do the people that pay the full $79 a year do a shitload of ordering or something? because even with the streaming stuff that still seems like a lot of $$$. because streaming netflix is like $10 a month. so i'm assuming these people order lots and lots of amazon shit to come out even or ahead on the shipping costs?i've thought about starting to buy pet food on amazon (this was before my prime was expiring). if i did something like that then the $39 would totally be worth it. but when i searched for pet food i didn't see much.
7/12/2011 11:51:46 AM
I pay the $79... I order a few things a month and I am very impatient so 2 day shipping is a mustEstimated shipping savings of ~$200 if I assume that I pay only $4 shipping on each item (which would def be more for most 2 day options elsewhere)
