Depends on who is hosting... Recently free for all on seating lost most of the structure once the kids grow up and have more kids but the adult table doesn't get bigger 11/17/2010 11:14:19 PM |

YES!!
and we (the kids) are 22 - 34 years old now
sometimes my uncles sneak and sit at the kids table because we have more fun, especially the past few years since alcohol has been allowed at the kids table
and we still do dumb/gross things like force my 22 year old brother to stuff as many rolls into his mouth as possible 11/17/2010 11:15:09 PM |

Yes and still do...but now the people that used to be at the young table are having kids. And the new kids now sit there and they're screwing everything up and I'm caught in the in between.

Yes, but only because the youngest person in my family right now is 18. Therefore all the grandkids sit at one table...which is fine by us because we would much rather all hang out with each other.

Yes. I sat at it last year along with my 26 year old sister when we visited family in Jersey...along with about 25 of the other side of the family's closest friends and relatives. (that's 25ish guests, not ppl at the kids table).
On the plus side, we got to sit directly infront of the 60+" TV with the game on. Like 5 feet in front of it. Good ol' Thanksgiving. 11/17/2010 11:44:19 PM |

Yes we had a kid's table. We just recently merged with the adult's table even though we're all 30+ now. One of my cousin's recently started knocking up his wife, so I guess we'll have to start a new kid's table soon. I dunno why people in my family are so afraid to procreate or whatever. I'm the only non-married cousin and even I was starting to feel like the pressure was on until one of my cousins had a baby. 11/18/2010 12:51:54 AM |

The rest of my family is in Louisiana and we rarely sit together for dinner....so no kids table
My mom throws down in the kitchen and we just graze all day. She's tried to have us sit down and do that "what are you thankful for" bull but that fizzled out pretty quick.
Usually I sit around with my dad watching football and westerns most of the day.
This year I think I will be here by my lonesome 11/18/2010 1:21:57 AM |

For real though...
I can't wait to get to that Chicken Pastry, Turkey, Turkey Dressing, Ham, Butterbeans, Mashed Potatos, Sweet Potatos, Cornbread, Collards, Cabbage, Deviled Eggs, Pecan Pie, Chocolate Cake, and all the other stuff my Mammy Fammy hooks up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It really is a blessing.

I don't remember ever having a kids table. But both my parents and grandparents on my mothers side had dining tables with an add-in middle section that I had to help put in to extend the table any time we had big holiday meals. I always got to eat with the grown ups though, at least as far back as I can remember.
On my dads side they just shut down the restaurant for the day & everyone ate there, so there were many tables and booths and no specific kids table to be relegated to. Although I think I probably often, by choice, ate with the relatives who were my own age, but not at a table that was symbolically smaller or farther away in a way that would make it a kids table.
Come to think of it, holiday meals these days don't involve kids tables either. All the nephews & nieces sit at the same table as everyone else... sometimes 2 or 3 tables pushed together depending on how many people can make it. 11/18/2010 3:06:30 AM |
