It's obviously not comparable to a religious cult, but there are some similarities. Makes me think of Scientology...

The Legacy Center, Lori Todd and Rob Katz

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several years ago, my life was destroyed by a cult in the Raleigh, North Carolina area by the name of The Legacy Center. It was formed by Rob Katz and Lori Todd who had previously been major players in the Lifespring cult (Washington D C).
I lost my mind and incurred six figures worth of debt due to their brainwashing, mind control, and sleep deprivation as well as their practice of witchcraft (Wiccan) and devil worship.
More than 30 lawsuits were filed against Lifespring for charges ranging from involuntary servitude to wrongful death. The suits often claimed that the trainings place participants under extreme psychological stress in order to elicit change. The group had to pay out large amounts of money to participants who required psychiatric hospitalization and to family members of suicides.[6] The first jury decision came in 1984 in which Deborah Bingham testified she'd been in a psych ward for a month after attending two Lifespring courses and was awarded $800,000. Gabriella Martinez testified that she heard her trainer's voice in her head the night she swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills; Lifespring settled out of court.[4]In 1993, Pittsburgh lawyer Peter N. Georgiades won a $750,000 settlement for a Lifespring trainee who was institutionalized for two years following Leadership training.[6]In 1982, the family of David Priddle accepted an undisclosed sum when they sued Lifespring after he jumped off a building; Artie Barnett's family also reached an out of court settlement, when Barnett, who couldn't swim, drowned during a Lifespring training. Gail Renick's family received $450,000 after she died from an asthma attack during a training session. She had been led to believe her medication was unnecessary.[4]
The Legacy Center operates EXACTLY THE SAME as Lifespring and has destroyed hundreds of lives from suicides, to mental breakdowns, to bipolar, to psychosis, to delusions, to manic, to depressive, to paranoia. All kinds of evil practices come out of this center.
A Ms Linda-Marie Hubert of Spartanburg, South Carolina was named their Cult Leader of the Decade for recruiting 25 men into this horrible cult by using Match.com and offering sex as well as paying for many of their trainings.
STAY AWAY from this EVIL place and the SATANIC people that operate this extremely dangerous cult called The Legacy Center in Morrisville, North Carolina!"

"Is Legacy Center a multi-level marketing company?
No. Legacy Center is a personal effectiveness and leadership development company that coaches people to have extraordinary lives. It also provides coaching to individuals and offers customized workshops to corporations."

"Is Legacy Center a cult?
No. We are not a cult, we are a coaching company. If we were a cult, I am sure we would be really cool."

"How do you respond to websites with negative views about Legacy Center?
While the internet provides incredible opportunities for people, it has also become the new bathroom stall. Form any opinion on a subject and you can find it on the internet. Individuals can anonymously post their opinions and it is nearly impossible to have postings removed, no matter how false or harmful they are. While there are plenty of positive views about Legacy Center on the internet written by actual graduates and people who have partnered with the Leadership Program, the negative views are almost always written by a handful of anonymous people who have not done the workshops. These few people tend to be abundant and use several different pseudonyms. It is unfortunate that people come from fear when healthy and responsible adults participate in a dialogue about life, possibilities and the future."

to me it look like a leprechaun to me

I had a co-worker that did this shit for a year or so. He was always mildly annoying as it was but for that year everyone in the office did their best to avoid talking to him because all he was doing was recruiting/reciting back the feel-good messages they were pumping into his head. It did seem to have a somewhat positive effect on his life, but I don't feel like it would be any different than joining a legitimate church and taking it seriously. I think you have to be very open-minded plus slightly dumb in order to "get" anything from these guys. We always called it a cult to his face and it took him about 6 months before that stopped bothering him. We never got an official word on if/why he stopped going, but a few months later one of his fellow cult members came in to our office as a customer and the look of shame on his face was rather priceless when he realized where he knew her from. I don't know if he finally wised up, or if he just couldn't afford the thousands of dollars they were asking to enter in the next phase of his training or whatever it was.

That's not an option for us free-thinking reason-using atheists.
There is nothing serious about invisible sky daddy, except that the idea is seriously false.

I'd say the same of many religions in general.

^^I know you'd like to think you're being clever, but that was kind of my point all along.

I went to a recruiting session of it as a favor to a friend.

They did this weird thing where we had to stand like a foot away from each other and stare into each other's eyes.

I had no idea what was going on.

It's definitely cultish.
