"Finallyfast.com Maker to Refund Thousands in Spyware Case

By Robert McMillan, IDG News

The company whose late-night commercials promised to "make your computer run fast the way it's supposed to," will pay tens of thousands of dollars in fines and refunds to settle charges that it engaged in deceptive advertising."

The 'advice' he gives in the video is absolute garbage talk. It reminds me of the guy's response to Billy Madison's quiz answer.

Quote :
"Mr. Schran, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul. "

Might as well embed it:

Advice:

1) Make people think they have a problem when they don't actually have one.

2) Plug your product as the solution to their problem.

3) Profit.

This has worked for all of the world's great religions, scientology and FinallyFast.com!!!

Note that, if you can split part two into 2)a. and 2)b., it is possible to create further profits. This more intense business plan is as follows:

1) Make people think they have a problem when they don't actually have one.

2)a. Plug your product as the solution to their problem.

2)b. Ensure that your product actually causes further problems without them being aware of it, or at least creates the problem you've attempted to convince them they have in step 1.

3) Profit.

This second business model is the one FinallyFast.com and Scientology are running son.

It's not like this scam is even innovative. He's just a modern day snake oil salesman. Even within the realm of the internet, they have been doing this with anti-virus software for years.

I just wonder why people would register a business that would obviously lead to litigation through deception. Although Cash4Gold is still running but they are more along the lines of pseudofraud for giving low quotes for the gold they receive.

So basically the guy got greedy and only got caught because it made several unauthorized transactions. He probably would have got away with it if there was just a one time fee.

I suspect the kind of person that would buy into finally fast would also be the kind of person that would never be able to tell if the service did something one way or the other. I like to imagine that the software's target market was people that can genuinely feel the difference immediately after getting an oil change.

Yeah, skimming the list of complains off that link in the article shows that probably 80% of the complaints are about billing practices.
