I figured this topic would work here...but has anyone had issues with their tv pixelating? It's been getting progressively worse the last couple weeks, but I know it's not my tv or the cable cord as I've changed both those out, so I'm guessing the problem is on time warner's end. I have basic cable (not digital) and I am afraid if I call to have them check it out they're going to make me upgrade which will cost more $ than I care to spend. Just seeing if anyone else has had the problem and what I could look at myself to try and fix it... 11/27/2010 9:14:50 PM |

well...that they would say the reason i was having trouble was because i don't have HD/Digital cable and that I would need it to fix the problem. I hate time warner and can see them being douchy like that... 11/28/2010 12:34:53 AM |

Analog doesn't pixelate. Analog gets fuzzy with static. Either it's on their end at the office, or you're on a digital tuner.
Anyhow, cable problems, call cable company. 11/29/2010 4:18:07 AM |

for all the hate of twc, i've never had anything but great service from them when reporting a problem
i had exactly the same trouble you're describing and they sent out a tech the same day...since i live so close to work, i was able to just stay until i got the tech's i'll-be-there-in-30-minutes call...he was there for quite a while and found a few things:
1.) the cables the tech had made when i set up my service about 18 months ago weren't crimped correctly, so the connectors were coming off, so he replaced those
2.) the cable at the pole wasn't secured correctly, so it was being stressed by its own weight along the line that goes from the pole to the house (not sure quite what this looked like, but it's what he said)
3.) my digital box was old, one of the models that only had DVI instead of HDMI
he was there for over an hour fixing these problem, and he made some calls to get me 6 months of free DVR service as an apology for the previous tech having done such a poor installation job
i suppose the first tech's work qualifies as crappy service, but i didn't notice anything for almost 18 months 11/29/2010 8:47:27 AM |
