... Listening to the song "God."
Just wondering, what don't you believe in?
Outside of being athiest, I don't believe in luck, or "destiny" or a "path" for our life. I don't believe that we have a purpose, outside of just living. I don't think we're here to accomplish something. It's up to each of us to do something with our life, and if that something, is nothing, then so be it. 11/28/2010 9:02:36 PM |

I feel like if your purpose in life is to do nothing, then the rest of the world would be better off without you. And by doing nothing, I mean literally doing nothing with your life. Not having a job, not doing anything except sitting around taking up space and resources that could go to someone who gives a fuck.
At least earn your way through life. If you can't do that then you don't deserve to live. 11/28/2010 9:08:13 PM |

No, says the man in Washington; it belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican; it belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow; it belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
Rapture. " |

OP: It's a real game, sir.
I don't believe in karma, subscribing to the nothing happens for a reason philosophy, although I would say I take a Haroldian approach to the common themes, patterns, and connections that occur in my life. 11/29/2010 1:07:14 AM |

I don't believe in a lot of things. I'm still on the fence about ghosts just because of some weird shit I've experienced. Those "ghost hunter" shows are worthless though. Film the dark Say "DID YOU HEAR THAT" GET MONEY!!! 11/29/2010 1:11:53 AM |

Don't get me wrong. I'm not some Ayn Rand loving anarcho-libertarian or anything. Just that people who do nothing piss me off because it's totally possibly to coast through life like that. 11/29/2010 9:31:38 AM |

"How are you a magician?!?"
"Because I know a trick."
"So you know one trick, and that makes you a magician??"

I can't phrase it any better than merbig.
And on a barely related tangent, I've noticed in fantasy/sci-fi settings with a mixture of magic and science that magic seems to trump science every time. Magic is considered to be outside the realm of science, that the classical limitations of physics do not apply, and therefore magic can do absolutely anything without regard for conservation of mass, energy, etc. But I think it's exactly the opposite. I think that anything "magical" is just stuff that applies scientific principles that are so ahead of one's current tech level that it's impossible to explain its behavior with one's current knowledge base. I reject the notion that magic can simply ignore limits or avoid being quantified.

Dude it's fantasy/sci-fi. Most of the "science" in sci-fi ignores limits also.
Most settings with magic and sci-fi are pretty low science anyway, except I guess Star Wars (where Force=Magic) and the magic only trumps science in rhetoric. I never saw the force destroy a planet, no matter what Vader said.11/30/2010 1:18:28 AM |
