Does anyone own one / have experience with one? I've been reading a bit about them, seems like a ton of fun and not that expensive (5,000). I don't know anyone personally who has flown one before though. 12/7/2010 1:12:49 AM |

I too have piloted aircraft. 152s, 172s, Cherokee 161s & 181s back in the day when my dad was an FI.
I miss those days I loved the g forces from the chandelles... lol... Remember when we were teaching Gonzo how to dogfight when we were in S&M DC? heh silly Cuban...
Ultralites look fun, but dangerous... Props to you if you go that route (no pun intended)

yeah i haven't flown (a real aircraft) in ~7 years. definitely wish i'd had the time/money to finish my private. i grew up on lake norman, allllways some ultralites buzzing around in the warm season, never knew anyone with one that'd let me take it up. lemme know how that works out for you 1985
and yeah, we had to be better than him at something

lol@ e-peen match i think i'll refrian...
I still haven't decided if i like ultra-lites or not... i think i trust experimental planes more. however i do like gyro-copters. 12/7/2010 6:46:05 AM |

I, too, have flown airplanes. I don't care for ultralites at all. I've known several more people that died in those compared to other aircraft. 12/7/2010 7:49:11 AM |

^^ "experimental aircraft" constitutes a wide spectrum. There are experimental "homebuilt" jets with glass cockpits and pressurized cabins, for example.
also, a true, legal ultralight is a pretty spartan contraption, but there are a lot of fairly primitive experimental airplanes that get referred to as "ultralights", even though they really aren't. 12/8/2010 12:06:16 AM |

Thanks for the input - so no one really has any experience flying one? I think there is a club up in hillsboro, ill probably head up there this weekend and try to fly one. 12/8/2010 1:48:13 AM |
