I hate texting and talking on the phone, but I consider talking on the phone to be an essential form of communication. I turned texting off through Verizon though. That shit is stupid as hell and a waste of time and money IMO.

I, too, prefer real books; however I think the cluttered bookshelf/bookshelves in every home is a waste of space and an extra thing to clean. I would love to break my attachment to the physical books and simply have a digital library in the future, however I don't see it happening any time soon. I do need to consolidate my collection down to exactly one bookshelf though.

As for phones I'm a big fan of texting as anyone who knows me can agree with I'm sure. Seems easier in my opinion I only call if it's something important or maybe if I'm driving.

As for books I dont read much but there is something to be said for quiet time at peace with a book plus reading that long from a screen is bound to hurt your eyes.

As for women staying home I'm all for that as long as they understand that they aren't gonna be living a high end lifestyle on just my salary haha

in fair participation of the thread:

i generally prefer phone calls to text messages, but lately i've been so busy that a text message is the best way to reach me so that if i cant answer the phone i eventually get back to you at some point.

i still read real books, but i'm not sure for how long that will last with textbooks being available on e-readers at half the cost

women staying at home is fine if they keep things neat and are willing to put the time into cooking instead. otherwise pass on that idea...

I see nothing wrong with the woman staying at home. GoldenDigger might be about the $$ though. I'd love to be a housewife/stay-at-home mom...but I actually like taking care of kids, cooking, and making sure the house is clean for someone to come back to after work. Doesn't mean I don't have aspirations. Mine just are more about non-profit work which will never pay me that much unless I hook up with a large large group. I could easily do that and stay home too

Anyways I enjoy texting and talking. My mother needs to learn to text because she calls to ask if my shirt was blue or green. Stupid shit requires a text.

I don't read, but would probably be more inclined with a kindle or ipad or something of that sort.

Sorry DivaBitchiness, not about the money. We had our own business growing up and my mom was a super mom, but i also saw how it stressed her out. I love kids and want my own one day, I also think its better if you can financially do it for one parent to stay home. Raising kids is a full time job. Also the kids can get more nourishment by having one parent home.

My ideal situation would be doing part time work while they are in school.

Another item: GPS. I never broke down and got one, there is something about using the map and how much you learn if you do get lost. Now I know the area enough where i wouldn't need one. I am borderline for this one though.
