So I found some things I was/am interested in bidding on, but people are being stupid and pricing me out. When the first person bids the asking price 6 days before the auction ends then don't counter that by doubling the price only to have them raise it by a dollar. Wait till the last second that you can bid and then up the price. 12/7/2010 11:55:24 PM

Yeah there is lots of cool sports memorabilia on there. It's too bad that some people are stupid and start a bidding war a week before the auction ends, only to have a $24 item become $775. 12/8/2010 12:04:07 AM

^What is that?
Anyway, I still don't get why people would start a bidding war a week in advance. Just wait till the last possible second that you can bid and then put in your bid. If you leave for work, or to go to a game and they beat your bid then oh well. 12/8/2010 1:05:12 AM

Well, the way they did it, they avoided ^. The price would probably get that high anyway. Why does it matter if it's 3 days or 3 seconds before the auction ends? 12/8/2010 1:09:33 AM

^I'm just saying, it started at less than $10 and is up to $36 dollars last time I checked. Why not wait to make your move at the latest point you can bid, so that you can win it at $36 instead of letting them up it to $37 tomorrow. 12/8/2010 1:30:17 AM

Maybe by bidding higher early on they drive away the possibility of a potential last second bidding war that might be more costly? 12/8/2010 6:34:58 PM

And here is my latest find. It is commemorative pins from all of the 1996 Olympic host cities. Too many soccer games have to be played in 2 weeks time, so the men's and women's tournaments are always played across the entire nation of the host city. Washington DC, Orlando, Miami, and Birmingham hosted games. I pinned them to a mini flag I had.

.^I've never had any problems besides I thought one of my 1930 World Cup medals was supposed to be silver and it was bronze like the other one. I don't care though because it actually looks better the way it is. With ebay you can fight it and get your money back if your item never comes. Craigslist is where you have to be careful. Someone got my sisters washing machine for free. I don't remember what happened exactly, but they ripped her off. I was lucky when I bought my yard darts on craigslist from a guy in St. Louis. I sent him the money order and he sent the darts. We were two honest people. I could have never sent the money order and there wouldn't have been much he could have done about it.
I wish I had a place to put them because there are some really good deals on signed boxing gloves with COA.

yes, that is the key. people aren't necessarily outbidding you at the last moment.
1. price starts at $9 (with $1 bid increments); current price is $10 2. you bid $11 at the last minute 3. you still lose the auction. why? because someone else, whether it was after your last-minute bid, or 3 days ago, bidded $20. the "current price" doesn't reflect the max bid. if someone's bid covers the next $1 increment, it will climb that $1 whether they added $1 or $1000.
so basically, just put in the most you're willing to pay for it with enough time for you to increase your bid if you have a change of heart after finding you're still not the high bidder. 12/12/2010 10:04:50 AM

THREE EFFING SECONDS BEFORE THE BIDDING ENDS, A GUY PUTS A BID IN FOR $6.51.

look at the bid history...there were two bids...mine, and his, at the last second.
