I'm a service forester for the nc division of forest resources ("DFR" or the "nc forest service").
DFR's legislated responsibility is forest protection. My job is mostly forest management with only a little bit of forest protection.

I've got skills...but the biggest employers of foresters are states and the fed government.

I don't know if I'll get the boot. It really depends on how much our budget is reduced. If it's losing a few jobs then I'll be ok. If it's more than 20% we'll probably restructure and whether or not I'm part of that is anyone's guess.

If I get cut I'm gonna see how much it costs to take BLET at the community college...and I'll start making a ton of holsters to sell and start doing a bunch of tree trimming or removals.
