I don't really save them. Do people just keep them to remember things they bought or does everyone keep a spreadsheet to track everything they buy down to the last cent?

Sorry, I save them sometimes for things I may return later but that's all. For stuff like food purchases I just toss them.

I only keep receipts for purchases where a single item has a certain dollar amount threshold. Like for a refrigerator or something.

I make lazy attempts to toss all other receipts. Occasionally it's fun to find a receipt while cleaning just to see how far back it goes.

i use a credit card for virtually everything i buy (unless it's under $5 or something, and i have the cash)...i like knowing that my purchase history is available for review

i look forward to the day that you can choose to have a single account that you can provide to a seller that will record all of your transactions...if you don't provide the account when you purchase something, you get a paper receipt and keeping up with them is your responsibility, but if you DO provide the account, you can view your purchase history (all of it, not just the past couple of months or something) and the account can be used to return items without a receipt, file insurance claims, tax breaks, etc

I wallpapered the living room of my last house with all the receipts I had from purchases directly related to what I spent remodeling the house.

I keep them if they are for a big purchase. Or if I buy fast food, I keep them until they clear my bank/credit card. I have a weird thing about worrying if they are going to swipe my card twice or something.
