Yeah, that pretty much sums it up

Unfortunately, for me, any present that I wrap turns out looking like the product of a semi-retarded toddler who got into the tape and wrapping paper

lol ... TheBullDoza has a hard time wrapping presents. I don't understand why men, who usually take such pride in their fine motor skills, are unable to cut and fold paper.

The narrator is very unmanly. He sounds like a 15 year old who probably watches Glee.

I am a present wrapping god. But then again I paid about 85% of my high school marching band assessment through many many many hours of gift wrapping.

i do the same thing... even down to the twine and the brown paper... i usually also go outside and clip a piece of evergreen and shove it under the string as "garnish"

i hate wrapping paper... it's psychologically misdirecting... with brown paper, you're guaranteed whatever is inside seems at least marginally more exciting

aha i'd do that if i didn't have to put things in a "present pile" at stuff like weddings, birthdays or under the tree

I usually try the scissor sliding trick once every year. Turns out the same every time and I just mumble random stuff about a conspiracy as I march out of the room to leave my wife to wrap everything.

I hardly go to weddings as it is, but on the rare occasion that I do, I leave the wrapping to wherever I purchase the gift from.

My family has learned to expect unwrapped gifts.

The scissor trick has as much to do with the paper as the sharpness of the scissors. If you get the cheap shit, it's impossible to cut nicely.

because this is one of the few things in life that you are granted an exemption from doing if you are or can convince others that you are really bad at it. Additionally, I haven't done a load of laundry since early 2005.

It just takes time and patience. And with practice, you get pretty quick and good at it. Anybody can do it, but it takes the time and patience and practice.

If you really and truly cannot properly wrap a present, then you may have a disability of some kind.

I never wrap shit. I swear by those little gift bags with the tissue paper. I'll stick shit that's not even suppose to go in there in there just so I don't have to deal with wrapping it.

I've always been pretty good at wrapping gifts. However, this is my first 'real' Christmas with my boyfriend and he is showing me up.

It's depressing; I thought this skill would be reserved for me.

I only do it because I understand the fact that most people don't like brown.
That, and craft paper takes longer to wrap with (and requires more double sided tape) since it's thick.

Some slightly lighter weight craft paper would kick ass.

[Edited on December 20, 2010 at 4:12 PM. Reason : At least the paper isn't too loud]

if you want to do the sliding scissors thing, you have to sharpen the scissors first. take a 12" of aluminum foil and fold it into a 3" square, so that you have several thicknesses to cut through. then take the scissors and cut small strips off the aluminum until the scissors are sharp. take some cuts at the tip and some cuts at the base of the blades so that they are sharp all the way down. if your scissors aren't too bad it should only take 3-4 snips. you can save the rest of your aluminum square for next time.

I mailed all my presents to mom's this year, so I guess I'm going to just get some gift bags and shove everything in those when I get there.
