I live 45 minutes from there

If I weren't certain that you would slit my throat in the middle of the night, and steal all of my ish, I'd offer my couch to you.

I see

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to give you rides, unfortunately.

However, if in the future, you need to make this trip again.... let me know. You can sleep on my couch. I'm willing to bet it's more comfortable that the airport couches, and at least you would have a fridge/TV/etc... here.

I'm in Rockville, MD BTW.

I slept in an airport today.

But it was on a La-Z-Boy in the crew room for a few hours.

But, yeah. It is permitted.

Didn't you ever see The Terminal?

"My husband and I had an awful experience staying overnight at this airport. Charlotte Airport is beautiful and I love flying in and out of it several times a year. On this trip however I was very disappointed. Our flight was cancelled so we were stuck until 6 AM the next morning. We thought why get a hotel. We can just hang out in the computer center and nap in the comfy chairs or the many rocking chairs. WRONG! About 1AM security told us we had to leave the terminal area and go out past the security entrance. So we did. It was nasty out there. The chairs were hard. It was freezing. The floor was dirty and disgusting. I was disappointed and mad. We were back at 4AM as that is when they reopened. It seemed silly to kick us out for 3 hours."

from above website regarding Charlotte-Douglas

Depends entirely on the airport... First I wouldn't sleep in one that wasn't an "international" airport... odds are the regional ones would kick you out, but most the bigger ones 'run' 24/7.

Speaking from experience here:

-Use your stuff as a pillow
-Try to find a row of 3-4 seats without the hand-rests in a dark less-bright corner, use a jacket to cover your head. Odds are you aren't the only one, first come first serve.
-If you need it quiet, you will NOT get any sleep (unless you have something to stick in your ears) because the announcements/security messages will keep going, plus the cleaning crew's floor waxers/vacuums/themselves are quite loud.
- In the likely event you don't get an ounce of sleep, have something to keep you entertained until the breakfast places open at 5am and you can get your caffiene/sugar injection.

Actually, on second thought, there is a decent chance they kick you out of the secure area, i.e. the gate areas post-security.

At the very least you can always stay in the front by ticketing.

they wont kick you out.

ive slept in a manyyyyyyy airport and they wont kick you out or even ask you what you are doing.

best thing to do is find a bar...get some cheap shots and pass out for as long as you possibly can.

its a crummy situation but make the best of it you can.

Ok, except after reading the reviews on that site where on more than one occasion where the passengers were escorted out of the secure area.

I forgot your experiences were all encompassing.

Airport security and enforcement varies between airports.

How the hell is Bangkok's airport rated as one of the best in Asia? That airport is terrible.

i've slept in a few airports and a lot of people are saying to watch your stuff and while you should be smart about it i've never seen/heard of anyone getting their bags stolen in an airport while sleeping - i don't think theft in airports is high
