I like being the big spoon because I'm a man, but there are advantages to both.


As the big spoon, you can treat the little spoon like a teddybear. But you have to worry about breathing on person, or have to smell their hair all night long, and there's really nowhere to put your bottom arm comfortably.


As the little spoon, you can crunch up into a ball and smile, breathe freely, and have their arms around you. But, then again, you have to worry about lookin like a little girl.

i always sleep with my arm folded under my pillow anyways, so it works well being the big spoon. plus it just seems weird for a girl to try to wrap around me, since i'm taller and broader than most every girl

I wake up every morning to 90% of the sheets pulled out, and it appears if I just grabbed on and do an alligator death roll with them some time during the night.

i think it has to do with the temperature. Being cold is good, and i just stay snuggled under the covers. Being hot is bad, because i hate not being under the covers. i'll have half of my body out of the covers, and half under. and if i have a headache i don't sleep on a pillow, if i'm not wearing pants or i'm wearing short shorts i usually tuck the sheet between my legs. i guess there are a lot of variables. conditions have to be perfect for me to wake up still tucked in.

I'm usually big spoon; it really works out because her torso is just the right length. With her ass nuzzled in my crotch my bottom arm can hug her chest from under her neck. It goes to sleep eventually but takes a good while. When it does it's time to change positions anyway and i just move, no need for yelling HEY HEY GET OFF MY ARM.

In the morning I'm usually little spoon, because we generally sleep on other sides of the bed and when the alarm goes off and we start the snooze marathon she goes into cuddle mode.

I do read xkcd, but I can put you in touch with what will probably be a very irate woman who can verify I've been saying something similar for years.

Also, note that they make no reference to numbness or even spooning.

And the fact that anybody who has ever tried any variation on cuddling has thought something very much like that.

Since I sleep on a mattress on the floor, I have come up with a solution that involves having my bed be a few inches from the wall while strategically placing pillows so the girl's head (which at this point is purely hypothetical [the whole girl, not just her head]) is supported while my arm is free from any pressure.

I've always felt a little awkward as the little spoon, so I usually stick to the big spoon. The arm thing does suck, but seeing as how I sleep on my stomach I usually have to shift out of cuddle mode before it gets too bad.

However the stomach sleeping leaves her over to roll over and 1/2 sleep on top of me...thats kind of nice, especially when it cooooooooold
