I'm fucking livid. How these players can be so stupid to think that they can sell championship rings, jerseys, and fucking gold pants w/o getting caught blows my mind. I really hope all these guys don't play at all next year. Fuck them for being selfish...not just selfish, but going about it in such a dumbfuck way. I'm an Ohio State fan til I die, but it's gonna be hard to root for these 5 guys in the Sugar Bowl. Luckily, there's 39 other starters with at least a modicum of integrity. 12/23/2010 12:23:23 PM |

Would Pryor even be eligible for the draft? I thought he had to play one more year(isn't he a true soph?)
I always forget if it is 2 or 3 years out of college. Probably can look up both but feeling lazy and at work.
I found it pretty funny one of the things he sold was his sportsmanship award. That really was sentimental to him. 12/23/2010 3:38:33 PM |

also, because the players werent told about the rules revolving around selling awards and apparel until after the incident happened (which I think they sold the stuff back in 2008 according to the article I read).
I dunno, seem like explanations the NCAA made up so the Sugar Bowl gets good ratings and makes them lots of $$
it is pretty funny though how Cam Newton got off without even a slap on the wrist for his dad soliciting him to football programs, but they suspend these 5 guys for selling things they owned. I guess they could never sell anything they received from OSU on ebay, or that would be a violation too. I'm not saying that what they did was okay, because they should know about all the NCAA's crazy rules, but I think the rules are a little bit crazy in this circumstance. And its wild how much steeper the punishment is for these guys than what Cam Newton/Auburn got
oh well12/23/2010 4:48:22 PM |

That's basically what it seems like to me. The explanation about not knowing the rules or whatever is bs, if you're going to suspend them then suspend them now.12/23/2010 6:43:50 PM |

It is still completely dumb considering that these guys were being handed prolly thousands in cash, and they never ever once thought that it may be a dumb idea?

I'm just saying they'd be even dumber if they had done it recently, when they knew the NCAA was cracking down on other players and programs for doing basically the same things 12/23/2010 8:46:35 PM |

LOL, for serious dude? Any idiot should be able to immediately see the problem with letting players sell this kind of stuff while they're still in school. You've got donors out there like Wendell Murphy, Jerry Jones, etc who could drop 20k on a game jersey without batting an eyelash. Reggie Bush coulda stayed another year at USC -- I'm sure someone would have given him a quarter mil or so for that Heisman trophy.12/23/2010 8:47:40 PM |

yep. the NCAA absolutely lost all fucking credibility they might have had left by not suspending these guys for the bowl game. "Hey, you guys cheated, but we're gonna suspend you for 5 games that probably won't matter because you'll win anyway. Oh, and we'll start it after the next game where you'll be needed." Absolute bullshit. 12/23/2010 9:42:27 PM |

I agree, if they're suspended, it should start immediately. But if they're good for the bowl game, then they should be good for next season. stupid fucking rule.
As an Ohio State fan, while I'm puzzled with/upset at the NCAA for their waffling on rulings based on convenience. What I'm most upset about is the fucking dumbass players selling trophies/awards that they earned and apparently have no respect for. Watching so many championship caliber teams under Cooper shit the bed against Michigan and those players never earning the gold pants that are held in high regard by anyone affiliated with OSU football, I could only imagine how those guys feel when they read about Pryor and Thomas selling them for only $350. Such a slap in the face of tradition.
I don't want these motherfuckers playing in the Sugar Bowl. If we lose, we lose, but it's gonna be damn hard to get excited/be proud of OSU when any one of these bitches makes a good play. 12/24/2010 10:27:27 AM |

Quote : | "12:01am - 3:00pm: Christmas Day proceeds per usual.
3:01pm: Oddly-named “Tab Bamford” publishes a report saying that Jim Tressel will no longer be the Ohio State head coach according to two sources associated with other universities, which claimed recruits had been given permission to look elsewhere.
3:02pm: Bamford drops his pants and sits in front of his computer.
3:10pm: The story starts to make its way through sleepy Christmas day message board traffic. Nobody is aware of who Bamford is but several people seize on the opportunity to avoid their families and check into the validity of the report.
4:04pm: Buckeye fans predictably begin to panic despite the numerous holes in the sole-source story.
4:44pm: Several Ohio State bloggers begin to discredit the story. Few fans pay attention.
7:37pm: Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith chimes in that the rumor is, indeed, bullshit.
8:08pm: Mysterious and charming Twitter user Michael Brim notices that Bamford is a Michigan fan.
8:11pm: Handsome Internet gigolo Luke Zimmerman reveals that Bamford is affiliated with Bleacher Report, fervent lovers of slide shows and notorious enemies of basic spelling and journalistic form.
8:13pm: Bamford puts his pants back on.
8:14pm: Bamford locks his Twitter feed.
8:15pm: Christmas resumes in Ohio as previously scheduled." |
