I'm here in Durham visiting my family, but I'm supposed to be back at work in Charleston at 8am tomorrow morning. Do you guys think it's safe to make the drive? I'll be taking 40 to 95. thanks! 12/26/2010 9:47:14 AM |

Anyone been on the interstates in the triangle in the last couple of hours?
Got word that interstates are pretty good from greensboro on south, but WRAL saying that the plows can't keep up. not sure if that's up to date or not. 12/26/2010 10:09:47 AM |

looking at the traffic cams make the interstate look pretty clear, but it's hard to tell 12/26/2010 10:37:22 AM |

apparently east of Raleigh received heavier snow esp over the last couple hours so I-95 may be a mess for a while... 12/26/2010 11:00:32 AM |

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I, too, am wondering about the interstate (mainly I-95)... We'll be driving to Raleigh from Harrisonburg, VA. Planning on leaving here early afternoon... 12/26/2010 11:13:49 AM |

Lol let me know... My mom is driving from Harrisonburg to Raleigh tomorrow. I wonder if it would be better to go through Lynchburg or around Richmond. 12/26/2010 11:16:38 AM |

We always go around Richmond via 288 but I think today that might be a bad idea... Probably should stick to I-95 12/26/2010 11:22:55 AM |

my brother was driving around a little bit ago, said he could get up to about 50 on 40. He just went to Garner and back to Raleigh though.
He drives a truck with 4WD though

ZOMG Snow!! CLOSE EVERYTHING! You will be fine just take your time to feel out the snow and then drive like a maniac once you realize that it's safe. 12/26/2010 2:09:10 PM |

all the interstates are good to go
40 is fine, 95 will be your biggest problem if you go north, south isnt bad at all.
its slow moving north but not terrible at all. 12/26/2010 2:18:43 PM |

95 last i heard was bad in johnston co because it snowed so much. Give it a few hrs as its about done snowing and they can get it cleaned fast. Expect lots of traffic though as everyone is headed home today as soon as they can get the roads open.
40/440 in raleigh was cleared a few hrs ago. They probably kept up with it, I know 64/1 south of raleigh was getting decent as well about 11. Probably good now.
Anything west of raleigh is probably ok by now as its been done snowing there for a bit, so they probably have the main roads cleared. 12/26/2010 2:26:55 PM |

yeah, but don't go late at night, some of the bridges could freeze up, other than that no problem 12/26/2010 3:27:09 PM |

just drove all over raleigh, 40, 440, and garner...pretty much just like driving in the rain. maybe a slick slush spot here or there but you can see it coming, just take it a little slower and pay attention and you'll be fine 12/26/2010 3:45:02 PM |
