I've got cats. Cats need their rabies shots soon. Where's a good, reasonably priced vet in the Cary area?

Mayfair rocked when I worked there. Request Dr. Musgrave if you go. Not sure if it's reasonably priced, though. Not sure you will find any vet in Cary that's reasonably priced.

Cheap and relatively no hassle, my favorite is Dr. Ansede in Garner where 70 and Tryon meet. They give you estimates before everything and don't give you any lip if you decline things that aren't required.

^^ Yeah Cary sucks that way I don't mind drive out too much but my one cat gets nutty as hell in the car so the less driving the better.

I have some friends who work at Swift Creek animal hospital. A girl over there might be able to hook you up. PM me for names and what not.

I know this isn't following directions, but I really like Quail Corners Animal Hospital on Millbrook
They've been nothing but nice to me and I will tell them upfront what my budget is. They respect it and will give me several options and also suggestions on ways to save money.

[Edited on December 28, 2010 at 11:45 AM. Reason : ^ Swift Creek is also good]

not for the OP, but if anyone needs a cheaper place to go, check out North Wake Animal Hospital (barely) in Wake Forest, located right off of Capital.

It's a walk in clinic, so you don't have to make appointments or drop your pet(s) off. I've been on a Saturday and didn't have to wait longer than 15 minutes, and weekdays are much quicker than that...so normally you're in and out. Besides being less than half the cost of 3-4 Raleigh/Cary area Vets I've been to, they've offered some great suggestions on my dogs allergy issues, which I hadn't heard at the more expensive places.

Two thumbs up.

I need to dig up their paperwork and double check when the rabies expires first. It's either February or March. Hopefully they don't get bitten by a rabid cockroach in the apartment during that time.

this is relevant to my interests

when i needed some minor (superficial) surgery on my dog (but which still required anesthesia), the cost was 5x what i ended up paying by taking my dog to my wife's "hometown" vet an hour south of raleigh

granted, no one WANTS to drive an hour to go to the vet, but given that we get our dogs' shots and physicals when we visit her mom, it's not a huge deal

now, that said, we have to get bordetella every 6 months in order for them to go to day camp every week...i'd love to find a cheap place to get that done (one that doesn't charge for an office visit) considering it's just a stupid nose spray

If you feel confident in giving the shots yourself, that would be the cheapest route. It's what my grandmother does, but my one cat is evil and I don't mind paying someone else to get destroyed by her when giving her the shots.

Adding Oak Grove animal hopsital just off 98/Wake forest Rd in Durham. I take my puppy there and they're great. They also have cheap doggy day care, but it's not really a fantastic setup. But I love the people there, they're great.
