AKA cock sauce, because there's a rooster on the bottle and because "cock" also means "penis" and that is funny.

Greatest thing to ever happen to food? Or greatest thing to ever happen, period?

I'm sure there are other fans on here, and I wish to know who you are so I can better divide this site into people who suck and people who have excellent taste in all things.

^^^Probably true. I could see it when I posted so I assumed all was good. Please inform me of how to do so better, and then either talk about sriracha or go fuck yourself.

Please do.

Tonight's experiment involved the sauce in equal parts with honey, which sounded stupid right up until the moment I tried some and then saw God.

I kinda went off the deep end when I first discovered the stuff. I thought it was the almighty, and then one night, in a desperate fit of hunger, I decided to try it on spaghetti noodles. I get sick when I simply think of that sauce now.

Really? I've stirred it in well with spaghetti noodles before and found it to be a delicious base for whatever meats and vegetables I had to throw in, as sort of a poor-man's impression of an asian noodle dish.

cholula and all variations are good.

why must it be one over the other? why can't the cabinet contain options for many different palates?

cholula is probably good and I shall have to try it.

But I'll be damned if I'm gonna stand for "not a fan" in relation to sriracha, which I assume tchenku has been eating so long because he's some kind of chinaman.

Cholula is amazing. I drink that stuff straight. But Sriracha cannot be consumed by itself. That stuff kicks my booty.

yeah, they arent in the same class... I love both but they are very different.

Cholula is basically Mexican Ketchup and Rooster sauce is actual hot sauce

I just counted 18 types of hot sauce in my pantry. But if I had to keep only one, sriracha would win.

OMFG i love sriracha.

Cock brand (huy fong) ftw.

I actually prefer this:

It's basically sriracha that isn't pureed.

I eat it with a lot of things. It's best paired with fish sauce and crushed peanuts. Also, Thanksgiving was created for sriracha; I love it with turkey.

^ I like that too but it seems a lot milder to me than sriracha. I don't know if it IS or if it just seems that way though.

1. it's called "rooster sauce"

2. yes it is the best thing to happen to food ever

3. you are at least 25 years late on this - I have literally been eating this as long as I can remember. we mix it with fish sauce to make a dipping sauce when my dad makes nim chow (vietnamese spring rolls)

4. (bonus) the garlic kind in the jar has a much better taste and goes well with nacho cheese doritos

It depends on the batch, sometimes you get a jar that's real mild, other times it's fairly hot. Overall though you are correct, it is a little bit milder than the puree. That just means you put more on stuff
I like the flavor a lot more.

I really like my parent's chili garlic sauce. They make it super hot but it still has a nice thai chili and garlic flavor. I feel sorry for yall because you don't have parents with those skillz.

I'm a big fan of Valentine's because I can buy a 64oz bottle for a dollar at Walmart. Sriracha is good too, but I prefer my hot sauce to be more liquid.

Considering I wasn't routinely buying my own groceries until five years ago (when I moved out of dorms), and especially considering that my family is extremely white, your accusation seems unfair.

But yes, it does go well with fish sauce, which sadly I only ever seem to encounter in restaurants. I'm sure grand asia mart has plenty but until I learn how to cook meals that pair appropriately with it I'm probably SOL.

They had it at Food Lion on Avent Ferry earlier today when I went. I bought the bottle I currently have at Harris Teeter.

Grumpy - Fish sauce is like $3 for a giant-ass bottle and it basically never goes bad. Get a bottle and experiment, just don't mind the smell.

^^Maybe I ought to do that. The smell has never bothered me before, I just didn't know what the shelf life was. When I've had it around town (most recently at Dalat, which may not be the best example I guess) I've always enjoyed it.
