I say he goes on to baseball...but...with the favorable schedule and the recent quote he gave that he wants to play QB in the NFL as well as SS in the MLB, I am tempted to think he may return.

whats your take?

I think the potential for the team next year is extraordinary if he comes back. However if he were to leave he does so with my full appreciation and support.

Does it make sense that if he indeed did not plan returning to State for his senior season that he would enter his name as well by Jan 15th to be combine eligible? Just in case he gets drafted and wants to test the NFL waters at a training camp?

whatever he played last year, if that was rookie ball, then yes

depends on your view, if he tore shit up Gregg Jefferies style, it would be more likely that he would do baseball full time, if not, then maybe football again

I have always said that RW is not that great of a baseball player. I think he'd make more on the back end of NFL rosters for a couple years, then in the CFL for a decade than he would trying to make it out of the minor leagues

With that said, is there any downside to his decision? He comes back - we have Football Jesus for a 4th year with an experienced OLine and the weakest schedule I have ever seen. He goes - we get two years of Glennon, who has every indication of being a future NFL QB aside from the fact that his brother was horrible.

I think i remember that he was a pretty decent bat in the rookie ball.

looking AT THE SCHEDULE he should come back.

the only problem I see with next years team is middle linebacker and Mike Archer.

34th highest OPS, though most of the dudes ahead of him have a year under their belt, and twice as many strikeouts as walks

But stats aren't important in anyone's first year with a wooden bat

^ That's about what a player on the scout team makes

im just saying, darian durant makes like 200k to sit on the bench in canada. thats like 100k less than the league min. RW would make IF he can make a roster as a bench player in baseball

RW is about a million times better than darian durant. Could probably leech the NFL min (higher than baseball's IIRC) for a year or two before starting in Canada for ~$500k for a decade

if he can make a long term career in MLB that's obviously way more $$$ but I don't know how that's anymore realistic than thinking he could have a long term career in the NFL

I said baseball players make more money than football players

And the MLB minimum is $400k+ btw

more realistic because he has already been drafted, in the 4th round (out of 50 rounds) nonetheless

Weren't his baseball numbers last year pretty 'meh'?

Why do I have the feeling the Wilson is just a fantastic athelete (he can prolly ball it out on the court too), but not quite pro level in either sport?

I hate it for Glennon if RW comes back, but I don't think anyone would object if RW decided to come back for one more year to try and win a championship. The only thing I think Glennon holds over RW at this point is that I think a lot of people would like our QB to be there for spring drills, ecspecially since we'll be working in so many new WR's.

Even if RW doesn't come back I feel really confident with Glennon. A taller QB would allow us to lineup in a lot more formations other than the shotgun, which would help the run game and Glennon is the one who's worked with a lot of these receivers we'll have next year on the 2nd team in practice. I hope RW comes back obviously, but either way I think we're in good hands.

Slow? RW? What?

I want RW to come back but I am ready for Glennon to take over. His potential is huge with the line we should have the next two years. If the WR/TE core amounts to anything we will be good.

Also I have that very card that tree posted, Juan Gonzalez was my boy! I think I have the correct one and the incorrect one.

He looks like a good RB but the offensive line still has plenty of room for growth in the run blocking department.

Yeah, Im fine with whatever decision Russell makes. I know he stated that he wanted to win an ACC Championship before he left State, and I think that had we gotten to the ACC title game this past year, regardless of outcome then i think he would have left.

But, I think he'll do another late spring/summer in Colorado and return to the Wolfpack in the Fall, especially with the NFL lockout looming around the corner with negotiations taking so long between the owners and players union.

He'll play baseball, come back and play for the Wolfpack football team and lead us to the ACC Title game in Charlotte.

I almost feel bad for Glennon. He was one of the top QBs coming out of high school and has said that he doesn't mind riding the bench, but he needs his shot too. Of course its dependent on RW's decision, but it'd be great for Glennon to finally get the spot light for all the time he has put into the team without getting substantial playing time.

Of course Glennon could just shut the bed just as bad as Beck and I could be eating my words in a year

I would definitely appreciate and respect RW's decision either way though.

Glennon would help the run game, being able to go under center and run a more pro-style offense.

That said, I could never say "I don't want Russell to come back"

small correction, but durant is the starter and was an all-star last season. they don't release salaries, but the team said he's being paid "comparably with the highest paid QBs." some site i found said that starting QBs make between 150K-300K, so if wilson went that route, it's not like he's playing for pennies. i was kind of shocked to see that regular rookies only make about 35K though

i've never really seen him play baseball. was he drafted on potential? intangibles?

I think he actually makes closer to $300K and he's a starting QB and has been for the last two seasons. He lost the Grey Cup this year and last year I think.

Clearly you did not watch any games this year. The offense was the issue (and special teams). I love Russell and what he's done, but I would rather he pursue baseball if we don't have him 100%. We can't score in the 1st and 4th quarters only and expect to win a conference championship. Offense needs a kick in the groin like the defense got. It's time for the Mike Glennon era to begin.
