why does it say this for all the p.e. classes now? so I can't just add a class now if someone drops, I have to email them then go to class, etc..? but how do I know if they will still add me. i'm trying to swap my p.e. 251 section with another one that is open and rather not go through this trouble. i don't want to drop my original section if there is no guarantee i will get into the one i want. if anyone had experience with this before, please help.

Then don't. Keep pursuing the one you want while keeping the other one on your schedule.

It looks like the 24th is your last day to add/drop, so even if you have two PEs on your schedule at the same time, it shouldn't be a big deal. Only drop it once you know for sure on the other one.

the problem is both are the same (PE 251) so I am pretty sure I can't have both on my schedule. i just want to switch times for convenience. also I am not on the waitlist on the other one and there are apparently 4 people on it, so I am thinking maybe they are giving priority to them, if a seat opens , they are gonna take the first person on the waitlist, or something
but seriously why do they do this, to piss people off or something?, jesus, i mean they aren't allowing you to simply add into a class if its open, instead making you email, then go to class, etc. and there is still no guarantee you can get in, too much hassle

Is this for the archery class you were talking about? If so I can't imagine how they'd say no. For most PEs I don't see how they would say no. In a regular class with a small classroom, jamming an extra person in there might not fit spacewise, or in a place like harrelson with the desk bolted down so that you can't change the number of seats, then I understand not adding an extra person. But in a gym, with a room the size we used in the archery class, space isn't a problem, and they seemed to have more than enough equipment for everyone (although I think maybe I did it during the summer, so equipment was probably less of a limiting issue then).

Unfortunately college is always like this. Not necessary this same specific issue you're having, but handling burarcracy is in some ways a useful life skill that NCSU forces you to learn.
