^^yes don't think that is the cause of the epic dense cakey excuse for a brownie that I ended up with

[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 9:49 PM. Reason : ^I mean, I'm not perfect but I think I followed the directions]

Second attempt was at least edible, but not great. No marshmallows this time.

microwave ovens vary in power.

you microwaved for too long if that's how you describe the texture... should have stopped after 2 minutes and checked!

you can also add something that would retain the moisture and soft texture, such as quarter of a mashed banana, or half a small tub of pure applesauce.

if you already have everything out just grab a pan and make real brownies. it will take a little longer to bake, but then you have more than one brownie.

It was all about the experiment, if this were Mythbusters I'd call it plausible, attributing the problems to my variations in method.

second attempt is considerably prettier, I'll give it that.

no, it's not like real brownies, but it's closeish.
I made dark chocolate orange brownies earlier, those were fantastic.

applesauce adds no flavor, just amazing moistness (thanks to the pectin).

brownies with mashed banana in the mix... you need to try some before you pass judgement. chocolate and banana go well together in many foods, and brownies are no exception. the best mildly flavored brownies out there.

and "epic dense cakey excuse for a brownie" is not a "perfectly good brownie". seems like microwave brownies need the help.

I made zucchini chocolate bread last night that tastes kind of brownie-ey. The mini-muffins I tried last night were sort of gross but they were apparently overcooked. Tonight I tried the bread and it is actually really good.

This recipe sucks ass. Here's mine

A large Coffee Cup.

7 AM

A Newspaper

A toilet.

A roll of toilet paper.

Directions:

Drink Coffee at 7 AM.

Go to the toilet.

Read the Newspaper

Add toilet paper to the resulting mix to enhance the texture and to help clean up.

There are several cake recipes that call for beets. They're pretty good, too.

Not to mention that you can bake a combo of brownie mix and canned pumpkin and get something pretty delicious.

Have you had zucchini bread? It doesn't taste like zucchini or vegetabley. I mostly just wanted to use some old baking chocolate and saw the recipe and remembered I had two pretty old zucchini in the fridge. I figured it would either be great or gross.

StillFuchsia and Skwinkle, the post of mine that you responded to was sarcasm, directed at some of the uncultured and closed-minded users who mock me over using zucchini in a chocolate cake. You can identify them from their posts ITT and in many other irrelevant threads. You can also search for my thread from last year with the recipe for the cake I made.

Funny/sad thing is, they mock me all over TWW for adding zucchini to cake (just search for posts with the word 'zucchini' by the 1st user to mention that in here), but the internet is full of thousands of recipes of vegetable use in cakes and sweet breads, whether for adding nutrition or moistness. As I said, closed-minded. And trolls/assholes.

I know. I remember saying I was with you until you started throwing in herbs too. But I really did make zucchini chocolate bread on Thursday and found that relevant to this thread('s derailment).

had to try so I did this:
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash salt
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Change Measurements: US | Metric
Directionsrep Time: 1 minsTotal Time: 2 mins
1In a 12 oz coffee mug, add water, oil, vanilla and dash of salt. Whisk well.2Add cocoa powder, whisk well. Add sugar, whisk well. Add flour, whisk well.3Microwave for 60 to 90 seconds. Center should be slightly molten. Careful not to overcook.4Enjoy with a spoon. Careful brownie will be hot.

used 1 tbsp oil instead of butter and cooked for about 1:40

decent if you want cake/brownie on the quick
