I think I need a new distraction. I've lost interest/motivation in pretty much everything I used to find enjoyable. Pretty much all I do is go to work and come home and sit around waiting for time to go back to work. Weekends are miserable.

is that $0/hour? sweet.

actually, i'm thinking about tackling one of these, but i'm not sure that i'd have the wherewithal to see it through to the end. the technical challenge is just beyond what i'm currently capable of.

The New York Times published a list last week of 11 things to do with your time. It's pretty entertaining, depending on what you're into.

^^^^^ haha one of my friends has been wanting to build those with me.

I do other electronic stuff. Guitar Effects pedals, hopefully some vintage guitar amp clones this semester... If i had more time i'd try my hand at like design or something but its way easier to just steal schematics and clone shit. Overhead for R&D even some of the smaller companies is like $25k which is about $24.9k out of my price range.

Nintendo DSes are like $15 per. Supposedly they can be fixed on average like minimum 1 an hour.

I tried and spend like 4 hours on one, but it was because we were given some wrong piece that had the dimensions of like an earlier version. The other guy i was doing it with still does it and i think he can get quite a few done.

And for what its worth that LED cube is surprisingly easy to build. Well at least the 4x4x4 one heard about is. The programing is already done for it, just a matter of not having a sloppy build.

I won't deny this is a large part of the problem. unfortunately "Go out and find some" is easier said than done as you get older.

well played, sir, well played.

I mainly want to do the led cube to learn more of on programming side of it. i've done a little micro controller programming in the past, but don't remember anything useful.

here's what i used to do:

Mountain biking - used to ride 3-4 times a week and train on rollers during the winter. I've been on the bike 3 times in the past year and a half.

Golf - used to play 18 holes every Saturday morning and sometimes play 9 or hit the driving range after work. I haven't been to the golf course or range in over a year.

Motorcycling - I got interested in riding a motorcycle 2-3 years ago. I took the msf riding course and saved up for a bike. Part of the reason I wanted to ride is that my dad, who has never been "into" anything, starting riding about 10 years ago and became a complete motorcycle fiend. I was hoping this would be a passion we could both share. Finally bought a bike this spring, and I've only ridden a handful of times. It mainly sits in the garage and I'll start it up every couple of weeks just to keep it lubricated and the battery alive.

Guitar - I've been playing guitar for 15+ years. I used to play/practice every day for at least a hour to unwind after work. Now I might pick it up once a week, and quickly get frustrated about 10 minutes into it because that everything sounds the same.

House Projects - This is probably the biggest problem area of them all. I bought a house about a year ago with grand ideas of how I was going to fix the place up and really make it my own. I got as far as doing some floor repair work and repairing the a/c. Since its just me, I really don't see the point in putting a lot of unnecessary time/money into it.

It would boost the value of your home and keep you occupied. I personally get a lot of enjoyment out of finishing home improvement projects. I wish I had my own home to do with what I wanted.

I'm thinking about getting back into hiking/camping. It's been like 4 years; most of my equipment needs to be replaced from sitting in the shed, but hopefully I can talk some ladies into the adventure
