Mine's been chirping for months.
You just tune it out eventually.

I had the batteries go out in mine and pulled the dead battery and the damned beeping still didn't shut up!!
I replaced the battery in the detector in the hall and complained to the management after going nearly half insane. They asked me if I changed the battery in the one in the bedroom?
There's 2 in my place?
Fail. 1/12/2011 1:35:56 PM |

sometimes if there are multiple smoke detectors they are controlled by a panel. so if one screws up, they allllll screw up.
but i dunno if 2 warrants a panel
i'm just saying. i recently learned this information after calling 911 because i couldn't get 10 smoke detectors to stop going off in the middle of the night even after batteries were removed. there was talk of a panel.
so confusing.

i pulled the battery out of mine when it started chirping, never bothered to replace it. So far so good.
Also i've had smoke detectors chirp on me for low battery 3 times in my life and all 3 times were in the middle of the night. Why can't it go off during the day when i'm not in deep sleep? 1/12/2011 2:52:51 PM |

The one at my brothers isn't a normal "Chirp." It is like some on is squeezing the shit out of the loudest song bird known to man. 1/12/2011 4:52:16 PM |

If you have pulled the battery out and it's still beeping, hit the test button to drain the power from the rest of the components. 1/12/2011 5:05:27 PM |
