That sucks.... I googled "SMC8014 default password"
and the info was listed on the 2nd website google listed...
"SMC8014 default login" gave me the actual manual with the default admin/password listed in the 1st website listed...

^^ Better hope they dont have a backdoor reset, or just dont kill your access at the node.
So do we get the story on why you did this? 1/15/2011 2:51:03 PM |

Eh, it's not all that inspiring. Internet was installed at a new location while I was out of town. I'm testing a linux box as a firewall instead of depending on the internal stuff. We have a lot of time-sensitive controls that I want all locked down and can't get that level of control in any reasonably priced hardware stuff (looked at some barracuda network items/salivated/cried over price.)
Long story short I was googling the SMC8014 and couldn't for the life of me find the stupid password. I think I was looking at the wireless edition. So I made the mistake and called customer support - our "business concierge" or whatever he's called was out, so I queued up. Then they couldn't give it to me. It was a huge hassle and I just happened to find it while waiting.
In my defense, I thought it was like the rest of our enterprise stuff and would lock me totally out if I guessed too many times - I was trying to ensure that didn't happen. 1/15/2011 11:38:19 PM |
