first, you should purchase an assorted pack of commas, periods, and semi-colons. then use them liberally. 1/23/2011 8:25:03 PM |

the only thing i could find about clear vinyl was someone who said the carbon black used for standard vinyl records somehow negatively affects playback from the cartridge, but i don't know how true that is or if it even matters. 1/23/2011 8:32:33 PM |

clear vinyl is less stable and more prone to warpage than standard black, which shouldn't matter if you take care of your stuff
also clear discs are not compatible with a specific strain of automatic turntable from the '70s that used a light sensor to tell if the platter was loaded, should you happen to have one
otherwise, shit is cool
how limited is the clear? ] 1/23/2011 9:28:15 PM |

What album is it? Is it limited print?
Do whatever the fuck makes you happy. I have a bunch of records on clear/colored vinyl and there is no difference in sound.
Whatever you do, just please stop making shitty threads like this.

to be honest, i have no idea. i haven't been into vinyl for all that long. i was just at a record store here in washington dc, and they had a clear vinyl copy of exile on main street by the rolling stones, which is one of my favorite albums. there was a sticker on it that said it was a pretty rare limited edition thing. i just didn't know if it was worth spending $40 bucks on it, and i imagine if it was THAT big of a deal it'd probably cost more than that. plus, it was re-released last year, so the more i think about it, the more i figure it probably isn't much to get excited about. but like i said, i'm not really all that knowledgeable about this shit at the moment.

I picked up several Rolling Stones vinyls at a yard sale last weekend. No Exile on Main Street, but I did get the "Sticky Fingers" LP with the zipper on the cover. 1/24/2011 9:45:42 AM |

I'm just trying to figure out if there's any other value in paying an extra 15 bucks for it other than saying "hey look at this cool clear vinyl copy i have"1/24/2011 10:47:41 AM |

Probably won't bother in that case. I could use the extra cash towards some other things i have my eye on that are out of print 1/24/2011 12:04:39 PM |
