Here is what I'm trying to clear out
I've dug though the registry enough to figure out how to unlock the "custom level buttons" but I'm still missing the medium-low and low settings for the internet zone (which i need to be able to get at to enable active x)
Any idea? I'm on a domain, I know the settings will revert, but I need to work around them for a short while, as we have some essential training that requires said active x control. 1/28/2011 4:07:02 PM |

In a domain, this can be defined in group policy for certain users or groups. 1/28/2011 5:04:30 PM |

in addition to group policy, you can probably use IE tab in firefox. im pretty sure that just uses the rendering engine of IE and doesnt inherit security options 1/28/2011 5:36:32 PM |

If you can set up a custom security level, just look through anything mentioning "active content" or "controls" or "plugins" 1/28/2011 7:58:47 PM |

If it uses trident, it inherits the security policy. Otherwise that would be a gaping security loophole.
Your best bet (other than contacting your domain admin to get permissions, which is what you should do) is to bring in a non-domain joined machine and get internet access on it.1/28/2011 11:43:24 PM |
