For someone who always seems to be in a serious relationship, I've never dated anyone for longer than a year. I've had about 3 or 4 relationships go for 7/8 months to a year though. It doesn't take me too long to figure out whether or not someone's going to work out (well...7 months is a long time, just saying it doesn't take me 3 or 4 years to find out that I don't want to be with someone for the rest of my life).

^^We were good friends at first - I started liking her, then confessed my feelings to her immediately prior to a two year stint in the Dominican Republic. I didn't find out she felt the same until I got the first letter from her after I had already left.

They didn't have computers and the like in the DR. I was in the sticks, so even things like electricity and water were often hard to come by. No phones or visits, so snail mail only. It was kinda funny since it was about 3 weeks in one direction. Conversations were unique since there was a 6 week turn around. Ask a question, takes 3 weeks to get there, the response takes 3 weeks to get back.
