I'm sure this has been asked before, but should you include a cover letter for the career fair? If so, do you write a generic one or do you write a specific one for each company? I don't really know the positions most companies are hiring for so I don't think I can write anything specific. 2/1/2011 7:59:54 AM |

^ Agreed
The resume is about as general as I would get. Cover letters are meant to be personalized to the job you're applying for, anyways. 2/1/2011 9:23:29 AM |

Yea, don't write a cover letter. Also, don't go to the career fair.2/1/2011 9:38:43 AM |

I like the career fair because the information packet is a great place to get a list of companies in your field to target. I also prefer small companies to large ones, and some of them do actually take resumes and setup meetings from the career fair. And experience talking to people and quickly describing your experience is good to have. I've had success at a career fair in the past. 2/1/2011 10:43:45 AM |

^ It's open to anyone. This could be the first time stepping onto NCSU's campus, and you are allowed to go to the career fair.
The Career Fair landed me a lot of interviews, and it really helped me figure out what I wanted to do just by talking to other companies. 2/1/2011 7:08:30 PM |

It's not very hard to find what positions these companies are hiring for. Most of my friends that have had success in the career fair did their research, made a custom resume objective and cover letter for each firm, and just pulled out that resume/cover letter when approaching that company. 2/2/2011 9:19:37 AM |
