Since the last thread was so popular but unfortunately titled, I'm making a new one so all flaming can be centralized. The criticism made me want to check some out again for the first time in 4 years. Let's do it.

First up, Initial D. Parodied in this Lucky Star gif, it's about the son of a guy who runs a tofu store. He's apathetic about the whole racing scene, but if wins in the next episode, he gets to take a date to the beach with full tank of gas. That's called incentive.

Really? I had high hopes for this one. Granted the first race has already lapsed into two episodes, the story line seems good so far. I just hope they don't all end up in dragonball-like multi-episode races

I've finished a little over half of Initial D and it's still pretty good. I had to post because they played a god awful techno version of The Police's "Don't Stand So Close To Me." I get worried during a race when there isn't any music playing, but once the techno kicks in, it's all good.

I also watched VHD: Bloodlust again. Not as good as I remembered. Really slow and not enough action.

Finished initial D. It was ok but I didn't like the art style of the people and over the course of 26 episodes, there was absolutely no character development. The lead character's best friend was the most annoying person I've ever seen in a series. He's one of those characters that looks like if he were black instead of white, it'd be a racist depiction.

It looks like there's a second season, but I don't think I'll check it out anytime soon.

^^^2nd season drawings/CG gets much better. I've only watched 2 or 3 eps though, so I can't vouch for the plot

^I watched about two minutes of the second season and that was it for me. The drawing had improved but that annoying best friend was too much for me. I expect a 13 episode season to have half the character development as the first season and zero divided by one-half is even more zero.
