Raleigh, N.C. — A North Carolina State University student is accused of soliciting female Wake Technical Community College students for sex, N.C. State police said Monday.

Blake Johnson Atkins, 20, of 3110 Compatible Way in Raleigh, is accused of approaching two women in the parking lot of Wake Tech's main campus on U.S. Highway 401 south of Raleigh last week and offering them large sums of money to perform sex acts.

The women told police that the man told them the request was part of a fraternity pledge, college officials said.

In 2009, a woman reported being approached in a similar way on the campus by a man fitting the same description. All three cases are believed to be linked, Steve Gregory, director of security at Wake Tech, said last week.

On Friday, Wake Tech officials sent an email to 50,000 students stating the suspect in the incidents had been identified and that there was no longer a threat on campus.

Atkins was being held in the Wake County jail on $1,000 bond.
