A fellow man is like 10 times the size of that owl. And doesn't have hollow bones. On top of that the owl was flailing around helplessly and it was pretty obvious that it was injured. It's not being an "animal person" it's called having compassion.

How do you propose he do that while playing a football match? But yes, were the circumstances different, it would be a lot more humane (and human) if he had taken the bird, slaughtered it, and then consumed it. That shows a certain respect for nature; kicking it showed disrespect (and that he is a pussy).
