Best If Used Date is 1/16...

My policy on eggs is the same as it is on milk... if it is bad, you'll know it. You know how sometimes you smell the milk if it is a little old and you're like "Well it smells kinda bad" and you taste a bit and it's fine? Then a few days later you smell it and it is absolutely HORRIBLE. It's the same way with eggs. If they smell just a little off they are probably fine. When they are rotten though, you'll know.

^Indeed when in doubt, Float Test FTW. If it floats, toss it. If it sinks, dig in.

Quote :
"A very fresh egg will immediately sink to the bottom and lie flat on its side. This is because the air cell within the egg is very small. The egg should also feel quite heavy.

As the egg starts to lose its freshness and more air enters the egg, it will begin to float and stand upright. The smaller end will lie on the bottom of the bowl, whilst the broader end will point towards the surface. The egg will still be good enough to consume, however, if the egg fully floats in the water and does not touch the bottom of the bowl at all, it should be discarded, as it will most likely be bad. "

That's what I go by. If it floats toss it (at your neighbor's house).

Throw your eggs against the fridge. If they stick they are good to eat.

Yeah I ate some that were a couple of weeks old yesterday. I just do the float and/or smell test. Some say you can flip the carton every so often and extend the life that way.

Just toss em and buy a new carton. It's like $1.50.

the eggs my chickens lay sink. i don't keep them around long enough to see if they ever start to float.

older eggs are best for boiling. they peel the easiest. fresh eggs won't peel for shit.
