should not even be called cupcakes. The gourmet cupcake trend is heavenly. Don't think grocery store cupcakes because this is a different world. The icings are awesome in theirself. Cupcake wars is a great show on tv.

I got a cupcake from GiGi's from a coworker and that thing weighed a pound, I swear. Ridiculous amounts of icing. I didn't know what to do with it, so I approached it like an ice cream cone and swirled around the icing lol

Cupcakes can be amazing, but it surprises me how many subpar cupcake places there are now. They either taste like crap or look like crap, or both.

This is a cupcake a co-worker gave me from a bakery that I think is in Garner


I thought maybe the failure appearance-wise would be made up for in flavor, but the icing tasted like Crisco.

I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way. I think their cake is usually dry and the icing is ridiculously sweet Hell, I think the icing out of the can in the supermarket manages to be less sweet than what they make.

^^ i agree gigis is the only place we go for cupcakes.

When i eat gigis i split the cupcake in half (cap & base like a muffin) and split the frosting between the two and usually still have a 3rd left over.

the only thing i hate about cakes/cupcakes are the whipped icing....i like the super sugary kind! you know-the kind that gets hard and crusty (which is maybe why i liked the cupcake shop! )

Georgetown Cupcakes are FTMFW! Got some of those sent to us at work for Christmas and holy shit those things are good. Never seen DC Cupcakes (which is about them) but damn good indeed.

Just got back from here. Tried the banana pudding cupcake and bought two others. Cake was moist and icing wasn't overly sweet, but the icing to cake ratio is way off for my personal preference. I could have done with half the icing. And the icing was supposed to taste like banana pudding but it just tasted like cream to me

Will report back on the lemon and the cookies and cream once I've tried them.
